We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

The Project Construction - Substation and Interconnection group provides interconnection and substation construction and engineering oversite and support for all Generation-interconnected projects. This position will oversee development and execution of high-voltage (HV) substations and generation-tie (gen-tie) lines in support of solar and energy storage.

The Construction Project Advisor duties include:
  • Overseeing the technical design, construction, quality, cost, and schedule for complex interconnection projects
  • Managing the development and execution of HV EPC contracts
  • Coordination with internal stakeholders including Site Owner's Representatives, Operations, Controls, Business Development, Environmental, Dominion NERC Compliance, Power Gen Engineering, and Supply Chain to understand the projects' needs and ensure the design and construction of HV equipment supports projects' goals
  • Developing project budgets and schedules
  • Ensuring all project results including EPC deliverables, specifications, test reports, and as-built design drawings meet contract requirements
  • Providing timely and accurate information and status updates to management and internal and external stakeholders
  • Analyzing potential risks for projects
  • Participating in status update meetings with EPC contractors and other stakeholders
  • Working with a cross-functional team that includes engineers, permitting specialists, construction oversight personnel, environmental compliance coordinators, contracts and financial analysts, real estate analysts, and operations personnel
  • Reviewing and providing input on contract Change Orders, Contractor Notices, Milestone Completion Certificates, and other commercial documents
  • Participating in and overseeing communications with external customers - to include face to face meetings, electronic updates, quick response to customer inquiries, and providing updates to Media Relations, Governmental Affairs, and other internal departments as necessary
  • Performing other duties as assigned
  • This position will report to Manager - Construction Projects

Position may require 50%+ travel and may require a temporary assignment during active construction

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • 8+ years of project management related experience, preferably in substation and transmission. Experience in other fields such as power plant/general construction and/or related utility operations construction may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel and project management, relevant technologies, and leadership in the assigned project areas.
  • Experience managing contract staff including construction management, safety, and environmental contractors responsible for contract and permit compliance requirements.
  • Skilled in developing, implementing, and managing new construction and/or improvement projects that enhance the overall reliability, efficiency, and safety.
  • Strong team building skills. Effective negotiating skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation capabilities
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Office products, SAP products, Adobe products, and scheduling software
  • Ability to develop, manage and monitor project performance to ensure results meet project contractual requirements including budget, schedule, safety and environmental compliance
  • Ability to resolve technical problems and implement changes
  • Ability to work and develop rapport with all levels of management and staff
  • Ability to represent the project and the company in public forums.
  • Relocation assistance may be provided to the successful candidate.

Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications. A master's degree can count as one year experience.

Education Requirements

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelors

Preferred Education:

Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.

Master's Degree: Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

GWO is required for positions required to support Offshore Wind.

Preferred Certifications: PE, PMP, PMI-CP
