Summary:

The Primary/Medical Service Line Operational Director is responsible for developing, planning, organizing, implementing and directing the business operations for their respective service line.The Primary/Medical Service Line Operational Director reports to the VP of Primary/Medical Service Line and will be responsible for the direct supervision of several direct reports.

1.Management Skills Required:

A minimum of five (5) years outpatient clinic or ambulatory services leadership experience is required. Must have experience creating budgets, implementing strategic initiatives and new services. Excellent written, verbal, communication and presentation skills required. Strong organizational and financial backgrounds are required. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail required.

2.Specialized and/or Technical Education Required:

A master degree in business or health care-related field is required. A working knowledge of the physician billing and collection function, the managed care function (as it pertains to physician services) and federal healthcare regulations pertaining to the Medicare and Medicaid programs are all preferences.

3.Manual or Physical Skill Required:

The individual performing in this position must be capable (or potentially capable) of performing all areas of skills required in the day-to-day management of assigned areas of responsibility.

4.Physical Effort Required:

Responsibilities:

In addition to the foregoing, the specific duties of this position include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:

1.Participates in the development and implementation of Service Line-specific strategies and tactics via the Action Plan(s).

2.Develops and utilizes a wide range of high-level analytical tools and systems.

3.Develops and optimizes operating systems and re-engineering initiatives.

4.Manages provider schedules for hospital and assigned clinics.

5.Assimilates newly-added NOPG physicians and other healthcare providers.

6.Works strategically with various hospital departments to optimize the efficient and effective delivery of healthcare services across the entire continuum of care.

7.Manages provider needs, including but not limited to: continuing education, licensure, PTO, productivity, payroll, RVUs, customer service issues and/or personnel issues.

8.Evaluates and justifies equipment and supply needs and purchases.

9.Monitors and negotiates maintenance contract costs and schedules

10.Responsible for interoperations between multiple departments within service line to establish optimal patient care.

11.Develops and implements business plans (including financial pro-formas) pertaining to new products and services.

12.Responsible for managing growth development, productivity, labor costs, direct costs, and contribution margins within service line.Reviews and acts upon a variety of reports (including monthly budget variance reports, productivity and patient satisfaction).

13.Develops and manages annual operating and capital budgets.

14.Analyzes financial performance and productivity.

15.Optimizes the integrated electronic medical record/physician practice management system.

16.Effectively communicates organizational and clinic goals and strategies to providers and staff.

17.Maintains highly-professional working relationships with physicians and other providers, the Network Executive, management associates and fellow employees.

18.Facilitates the implementation of new practice start-ups and assimilates newly-added NOPG physicians and other healthcare providers.

19.Evaluates and justifies equipment and supply needs and purchases.

20.Monitors and negotiates maintenance contract costs and schedules.

21.Provides comprehensive management support to all areas within assigned areas of responsibility.

22.Maintains high levels of clinical quality within assigned areas of responsibility.

23.Maintains high levels of patient satisfaction within assigned areas of responsibility.

24.Manages all human resource matters within assigned areas of responsibility.

25.Manages all regulatory compliance, patient confidentiality, safety and risk management matters within assigned areas of responsibility.

26.Works closely with the Director, Revenue Cycle, to assure that, at all times, revenue generation in areas of assigned responsibility is occurring in a proper and optimal manner (all in accordance with established systems).

27.Oversees service and diagnosis coding audits.

28.Serves on various standing and ad-hoc committees associated with the POC's and the NOC.

29.Assures compliance with established NOPG and NOHS policies and procedures.

30.Participates in NOHS community programs activities.

31.Coordinates & participates in the promotion of clinics, providers and services.

32.Coordinates and ensures the clinical and operational compliance of the clinics.

33.Maintains professional affiliations and engages in continuing educational activities to enhance professional growth and development.

34.Performs all other duties as required or directed.
