The Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Mechanical Engineer looking to work with autonomy on some of Canada's most future-forward engineering projects. You must be familiar working with a variety of complex, large, and mega size projects, various delivery methods in transportation, industrial, municipal, institutional, and commercial building projects.
From a technical perspective, you will be an established technical resource, mentoring and guiding engineers and designers in the production of engineering calculations, drawings and specifications.

What you can expect to do here:
Support managers with preliminary fee estimations, resourcing, and deliverables with proposals and pursuits on projects.
Deep knowledge of different mechanical systems including but not limited to HVAC systems, hydronic heating and cooling, ventilation, platform snow melting system, and infloor heating. Full understanding of P&FP (Plumbing and Fire Protection) including but not limited to potable water plumbing system, sanitary and storm water piping, natural gas calculation and piping for buildings and trackside SCD (switch clearing devices), fire protection, various sprinkler and clean agent suppression systems, and BAS (Building Automation System).
Provide day to day guidance to design team, acting as design lead on projects, attending meetings, client facing and representing WSP.
Support senior engineers and mentoring intermediate or junior engineers with systems, design strategy, technical knowledge, codes and standards, support them with educational materials, and provide lesson learned from previous experiences.
Deep involvement with proposals and pursuits, technical leadership, project management, project resourcing, and assisting the leadership with business development.
Lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams focused on client specific requirements including planning, engineering design, construction, post construction and financial management deliverables.
Cooperate with other discipline leads including architect, structural, electrical, BIM, civil, etc.
What you'll bring to WSP:
Minimum bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with 15+ years of consulting engineering experience.
Registered Professional Engineer with PEO (Professional Engineers of Ontario). Other provinces are a plus.
Experience with various transportation projects including but not limited to road, rail, aviation, ports and marinas. Project exposure should include: Bus garages and MSF (maintenance shop facilities), train terminals and MSF. Airport terminals, facilities, parking garages, hangers, CUP (central utility plant) Water ports terminal buildings, storage facilities, and marinas.
Ample experience with different type of project delivery methods including but not limited to Alliance, PDB (Progressive Design & Build), Design Build (Design & Build), DB with variations such as DBF, DBFM, DBFMO, ADM, IPD (Integrated Project Delivery) and conventional DBB (Design Bid Build).
Hand on experience with different mechanical systems such hydronic hearing and cooling, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, sanitary & storm piping, domestic hot and cold water distribution, natural gas distribution, fire protection, fire sprinkler and suppression systems (FPS & FSS), BAS (Building Automation System) and integration with SCADA, Engineering software, Codes & Standards such as OBC, CSA, ASHRA, NFPA, ASPE, etc.
