We are currently recruiting for a Nurse Supervisor II to function as a Clinical Nurse Manager at Central Regional Hospital (CRH) on the Forensic Services Unit, B0.

Clinical Nurse Managers are responsible for one or more defined patient care areas of organized nursing services and are supervised by the Unit Nurse Director/Associate Chief Nursing Officer or Chief Nursing Officer. They coordinate activities and provide clinical oversight of professional, vocational nurses, Healthcare Technicians and clerical staff assigned at the unit level. Clinical Nurse Managers have 24-hour responsibility for assuring the efficient and effective delivery of quality psychiatric and medical nursing care.

The Forensic Services Unit (FSU) is a three sectional unit serving the Pretrial/Maximum, Medium and Minimum-security needs of the court-ordered patients. FSU provides services from all counties in the entire State of North Carolina.

Pretrial Evaluation Admissions (PTA) -Consists of 8 beds and admits males and females 18 years of age and older. Criminal defendants undergo evaluations of their capacity to proceed, criminal responsibility, and other questions as ordered by the court. This unit serves a limited number of defendants who require more intensive observation services due to being at high risk, medically complicated, or requiring more intensive observation.

Forensic Maximum-Security Unit-Consists of 22 male adult beds (18 years of age and older). All have court orders for admission to the unit and all will work through varying levels of restrictions. Security consists of internal and external measures to deter elopement.

This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package. Normal work hours are Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm, with some rotation and holidays required, as well as 24-hour responsibility in the efficient and effective delivery of quality nursing service to patients and staff. Flexibility in work schedule is required to meet hospital needs. This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Ability to perform as a unit Charge Nurse when needed.
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct and evaluate nursing care of patient care area.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with various types of work groups.
Physical requirements will be discussed with the applicant during the interview process, but will include the ability to pass CPR, protective interventions (NVCI), lifting,kneeling,walking up and down stairs. Position requires a valid drivers license.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and three years of nursing experience, including one year of experience in a Nurse Supervisor capacity.

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
