Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Manager of Financial Accounting will be responsible for managing the organization's accounting functions, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role oversees day-to-day accounting operations, supports financial reporting, and assists in developing and implementing financial policies and procedures. The position plays a critical role in ensuring the organization's financial integrity, compliance with funding requirements, and support of programmatic and strategic goals.

Responsibilities:
Financial Management and Reporting
- Oversee and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger and financial records.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP, specifically for nonprofit organizations.
- Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, ensuring timely and accurate submission of required documentation.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local reporting requirements, including IRS Form 990
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and monitor the organization's annual budget.
- Provide ongoing budget-to-actual variance analysis and support forecasting activities.
- Assist Grants accounting function to support program leadership with financial performance analysis and budgeting for grants and restricted funds.
Grant and Fund Accounting
- Collaborate with the Sr. Manager, Grants Accounting to ensure proper tracking and accounting for restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Support as needed to prepare grant-specific financial reports and ensure compliance with donor restrictions.
- Collaborate with Grants Compliance, Grants Accounting, and Development teams to maintain cost accumulation and drivers leading accurate and complete reporting and invoicing.
Internal Controls and Compliance
- Design, implement, and monitor financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with applicable nonprofit financial regulations and funding requirements.
- Support risk management activities, including insurance and compliance audits.
Leadership and Team Management
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
- Provide training and development opportunities to ensure staff proficiency in non-profit accounting practices.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the leadership team, providing financial insights to inform decision-making
System Management and Improvement
- Oversee the maintenance and improvement of financial systems and tools. Foreseeable immediate tools include MIP Allocations modules (in accordance with a Cost allocation plan), MIP MICROIX (PO/Requisitions module), and segments integrity supporting the MIP-Grants Administration module.
- Ensure accurate data entry, reconciliation, and reporting within MIP.
- Periodic review of external system-driven transactions that are used for our accounting records i.e., ADP, Paylocity, Rent Manager, and others.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Other Duties
- Collaborate with other departments to support organization-wide initiatives.
- Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned by the CFO.

Requirements
Qualifications, Essential Skills, and Experience Required:
- Ability to understand and practice the mission of Camillus House.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- Language: Proficiency in oral/written English; Spanish preferred; additional languages a plus (i.e., Creole).
- Minimum of 15 years of accounting experience, with at least 10 years in a nonprofit organization.
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit GAAP, fund accounting, allocations, and grant-related reporting.
- Experience managing audits and supporting the preparation of IRS Form 990.
- Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MIP, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Blackbaud, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Successful completion of Toxicology test, L2 and local background screening, and OIG.
- Valid FL Driver License with clean driving record.
