The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the pharmaceutical manufacturing site. This includes overseeing production processes, ensuring compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and safety regulations, optimizing efficiency, and leading a team of production staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pharmaceutical manufacturing, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.

Requirements

Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and implement the overall manufacturing strategy in alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the manufacturing team to achieve production targets, quality and safety standards, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute long-term plans for growth and improvement.
  • Operational Management:
  • Oversee all manufacturing operations and production, collaborating with management from maintenance, quality control, and supply chain management.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, regulatory requirements, and company policies across all manufacturing processes.
  • Optimize production processes and workflows to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality and process safety

Quality Assurance:
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance department to address any quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence throughout the manufacturing organization.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing manufacturing team, including managers, supervisors, and production staff.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and capabilities.
  • Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork and innovation.

Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage the manufacturing budget, monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving measures.
  • Analyze financial performance and implement strategies to improve profitability and cost-efficiency.
  • Prepare and present reports on manufacturing performance to senior management.
  • Works closely with Finance and Supply Chain on standard costs, variances, and schedule adherence.
  • Work with manager on CAPEX strategy, plans, and ROI.

Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement lean manufacturing principles to drive operational excellence.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement strategies to achieve and exceed targets.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure a safe working environment by promoting and enforcing safety standards and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Investigate and address any incidents or accidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Experience & Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of GMP regulations and pharmaceutical production processes.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proven experience in process improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using production management software and tools.

Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, Business Administration or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Constantly required to see to utilize computer screens and monitors to perform job duties including reading & writing, as well as when presenting information and communicating with others.

  • Frequently required to reach with arms and hands performing repetitive motions and using finger dexterity to work primarily at a computer keyboard and with a mouse.
