Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.
About the Senior Refined Products and Trading Manager Position
As the Senior Refined Products and Trading Manager will be responsible for managing, sourcing, and selling Refined Petroleum Products, components, LPG's and Renewables for term and spot deals, developing and implementing trading strategies, and optimizing profitability. This role requires a strong understanding of the refined products market, excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced Supply and Distribution/Trading environment.

As the Senior Refined Products and Trading Manager will be responsible for managing, sourcing, and selling Refined Petroleum Products, components, LPG's and Renewables for term and spot deals, developing and implementing trading strategies, and optimizing profitability. This role requires a strong understanding of the refined products market, excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced Supply and Distribution/Trading environment.
What You Get to Do:
- Collaborate with the operations team to ensure timely and efficient receipt and delivery of products including management of margin exposure throughout the supply chain.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers, customers, and other industry stakeholders.
- Develop and implement trading strategies to optimize profitability and manage risk.
- Execute the trading and supply of refined petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel fuel and other components, renewables, LPG's, and other products as deemed necessary.
- Execute all spot market purchases and sales in accordance with company policy, adhering to all local, State, and federal laws and regulations.
- Analyze market trends, fundamentals, and competitor activity to inform trading decisions.
- Negotiate term contracts and agreements with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Provide market insights and intelligence to support business development and growth initiatives.
- Stay up to date with changes in market regulations, laws, and industry standards.
- Monitor and manage derivative position limits, stop-loss limits, and other risk management metrics.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field of study from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education.
- Ideally, 5+ years of experience in Refined Products Bulk Trading, both Index/Formula based trades as well as Basis Trading.
- Expert at understanding arbitrages and forward curves implications to optimize financial results.
- Approximately 5 or more years of experience in refined products Supply and Distribution/Scheduling, preferably within the Colonial Pipeline system encompassing primarily US Gulf Coast origins and US East Coast destinations. US Northeast regions experience a plus.
- Experienced at mitigating/managing flat price exposure including optimization of product inventory management.
- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI, though Power BI is preferred.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards, such as API or ASTM
- Commitment to consistently adhere to policies and procedures and be a positive example for others by demonstrating the Company's core values of Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Safety, and Excellence in completing work assignments.

- Master's Degree in related field of study.
- Experience negotiating long term (1 year or longer) refined product purchase and sales agreements, and familiarity with standard commercial terms including formula-based pricing, various modes of transportation, the Colonial Pipeline system specifically, and others.
- Scheduling experience and supply chain knowledge for various modes of transport, pipeline, rail, truck, and/or waterborne.
- Gasoline blending experience as related to product quality, blending components and the economics/value generated from a blending operation.
- Experience in BIO based products and markets such as bio/renewable diesel, ethanol.
