Description:
The Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor is seeking a qualified and experienced attorney to serve as ATI Unit Chief within the Alternatives to Incarceration (ATI) Unit. The ATI Unit Chief will oversee a team dedicated to identifying and managing appropriate cases for diversion and treatment in lieu of incarceration. This leadership role includes evaluating cases for program eligibility, supervising unit staff, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the success of participants enrolled in ATI programming.

Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise the ATI Unit staff, including a Deputy Unit Chief, two ADA Coordinators, and two Case Coordinators
- Review case files, criminal histories, mitigation reports, and records to assess eligibility for ATI programming
- Conduct interviews with potential ATI participants to evaluate overall suitability for treatment alternatives
- Maintain a substantial calendar practice to monitor participants' compliance and progress
- Conduct extensive case conferencing and coordinate with trial bureaus in anticipation of court appearances
- Provide legal guidance to SNP Assistants on programming options and plea agreement requirements
- Work in collaboration with the ATI court part, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office (DANY), and the Center for Justice Innovation
- Serve as a liaison across agencies to ensure smooth coordination of ATI services and outcomes
- Exercise discretion regarding any reduced personal caseload as needed
Qualifications:
- J.D. degree and admission to practice law in New York State
- A minimum of four (4) years of legal or relevant professional experience
- Strong knowledge of criminal justice diversion programs and alternative sentencing models preferred
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, court personnel, and community partner
