Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Engineering, this role will be responsible for leading a global team of Software Engineers to ensure that new product development demonstrates innovation and drives customer value and adoption. The role will oversee the software development of both Veryon Tracking and Veryon Publications product offerings. The Senior Director will be expected to co-ordinate efforts with development teams and subject matter experts within Veryon and our customers and partners as well as deliver technology solutions while adhering to our core values.

Ideally the candidate would have a strong understanding of or experience working with aviation maintenance tracking solutions combined with good technical expertise in software development and excellent communication skills.

This new leader's team will be spread across the globe in North America, Asia and Europe.

What You'll Accomplish - Your Performance Objectives

Objective #1
Within your first 30 days, gain a solid understanding of the current state of the team, the technology and the projects
  • Familiarize yourself with the Veryon products, being able to click through and demo the applications at a high level.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the existing SDLC process at Veryon and associated key metrics.
  • Familiarize yourself with the technical implementations of the Web, Mobile and Desktop applications.
  • Gain an understanding and appreciation for all of the individuals influencing success of this role, including direct and indirect reports, peers and project stakeholders across around the globe.

Objective #2
Within your first 90 days, demonstrate your ability to take in-depth understanding and create actionable plans of action.
  • Work with your and you peers' teams to take ownership and deliver your first feature to production.
  • Establish regular touchpoints with direct reports and stakeholders within other business units.
  • Establish and monitor goals and growth plans for individual team members by various means such as 1:1s and metrics.
  • Evaluate usage of existing and potentially new technologies, ensuring that the development team is optimized with the appropriate tooling that makes a direct impact to efficiency and effectiveness.

Objective #3
Within your first 6 months, establish yourself as a senior technology leader.
  • Partner with product to ensure continued on-time delivery of features and bug fixes using Scrum methodologies.
  • Complete your first set of performance reviews for your team and provide recommendations for continuous improvement and career growth.
  • Implement at least two innovations and demonstrate value using both KPIs and qualitative measures.
  • Clearly articulate the cost and time savings associated with advancements in development practice such as the further adoption of AI tools in the development process.
  • Maintain, track and provide readouts on key KPIs monthly.
  • Build strong relationships across the organization.
