Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support mission-critical systems within a U.S. military organization. In this role, you will lead the design, implementation, and management of server and application architectures. You will ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability of enterprise IT systems, while providing guidance to junior team members and collaborating across technical and functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage enterprise server and application architectures to meet mission needs.
  • Administer and maintain server hardware and software, ensuring system availability, performance, and security.
  • Monitor and respond to system events, including penetration attempts, system anomalies, and performance issues.
  • Develop and maintain baseline system configurations; implement and document configuration changes.
  • Create and maintain incident response and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and administrators.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in systems engineering.
  • Recommend system enhancements and provide strategic input to leadership.
  • Support the development, integration, and modification of software applications to improve operating system functionality.


Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering or related IT roles.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Windows Server (2016/2019/2022).
  • Strong background in server virtualization, including VMware and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Proficient in PowerShell scripting and systems automation.
  • Hands-on experience supporting users and resolving issues via ServiceNow or a comparable ITSM tool.
  • Experience with OpenText Livelink and Microsoft SharePoint 2010 administration.
  • In-depth understanding of systems engineering practices across the full lifecycle.
  • Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and user guides.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ITIL v3 Foundation certification.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, matrixed environments supporting U.S. military or government clients.
  • Familiarity with MECM and other enterprise system management tools.
  • Proactive approach to staying current with evolving technologies and industry standards.
