The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented QA Engineer to ensure the quality and reliability of our software solutions for federal and commercial clients. This role is responsible for designing and implementing test strategies, executing comprehensive test plans, and collaborating with development teams to deliver high-quality software products. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, technical testing expertise, and a commitment to excellence in software quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities Test Planning and Strategy
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts
  • Design and implement test automation frameworks and strategies
  • Create and execute functional, regression, integration, and system test suites
  • Collaborate with development teams to understand requirements and system architecture
  • Define quality metrics and testing standards for software products
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies to provide QA perspective and input
  • Ensure testing coverage aligns with business requirements and security standards

Testing Execution and Defect Management
  • Execute manual and automated test cases across various environments
  • Perform API testing, UI testing, and backend service validation
  • Conduct performance, load, and stress testing when required
  • Document and track defects using defect tracking systems
  • Verify bug fixes and perform regression testing
  • Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Maintain detailed records of testing activities and results

Quality Improvement and Process Optimization
  • Continuously evaluate and improve testing methodologies and processes
  • Research and recommend new testing tools and approaches
  • Develop and maintain testing documentation and knowledge base
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior QA team members
  • Participate in code reviews from a quality assurance perspective
  • Contribute to the development of quality standards and best practices
  • Support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in software quality assurance or testing
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and tools (Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Cypress, etc.)
  • Proficiency in writing SQL queries and testing database applications
  • Experience with defect tracking and test management tools (JIRA, TestRail, etc.)
  • Knowledge of API testing tools (Postman, SoapUI, etc.)
  • Familiarity with performance testing concepts and tools
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Experience with federal government applications and security requirements preferred
  • ISTQB certification or similar professional qualification a plus
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Must be located in the Washington DC Metro Area

Work Location: Hybrid (Rockville, MD up to 3 days per week)
