Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a candidate with 20 plus years of experience in managing multi-disciplined teams planning passenger rail and/or transit projects in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The ideal candidate will have experience as a Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager for FTA/FRA funded projects involving Bus Facilities, Bus Rapid Transit, Light Rail, Heavy Rail Rapid Transit, or Commuter Rail. PE Registration required. A bachelor's degree is required, masters preferred, and progressive positions with major transportation agencies or consultants expected. The position is responsible for coordinating and reviewing the work of engineers and planners working in diverse disciplines to design and plan major transportation infrastructure. The position requires good verbal and writing skills and ability to successfully interact with clients and federal agency oversight. Work includes corridor infrastructure design projects, project management, project scheduling. Some travel necessary.

Primary Responsibilities (others may be asigned):

  • Support the Transit Market Sector Leader on project pursuit strategy, mining and development.
  • Serve as Project Manager with involvement in client development, project delivery and overall client satisfaction both locally and in other regions in support of company projects.
  • Responsible for overall supervision and quality of those projects assigned. Assure projects conform to the contractual agreements the firm has made to our clients.
  • Assure projects are completed within the allocated period of time and within the budget that has been assigned.
  • Assist in business development goals established for the firm.
  • Grow into a role to provide team leadership. Plan, organize, and supervise the work of staff.
  • Evaluate progress of the staff and results obtained and recommend changes to achieve overall objectives.
  • Mentor other employees to be able to participate in transit projects.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:
  • Bachelor's degree civil engineering or planning field required, Master's preferred
  • Minimum 20 years of management experience in the planning and design of transit/rail/ bus / facility infrastructure is desired
  • Experience with transit projects ranging from planning/concept design/through project development is valuable
  • Experience in the Alternative Delivery of Transit Projects
  • Registration as a licensed PE required.

This compensation range is specific to the State of California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; internal peer equity; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Gannett Fleming TranSystems, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $100,000 - $130,000 annually.
