Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, the employee shall provide oversight and leadership of addiction treatment services at Unity.

The incumbent must be able to balance the needs of diverse staff on a daily basis.
RISKS
The position involves everyday risk and discomforts, which require normal safety pre-cautions typical of such places as offices, meetings, training rooms, and other UHC health Care Sites. The work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. All medical services shall be provided according to medically accepted community standards of care. The employee shall provide evidence of recent (within the past twelve (12) months) health assessment that includes a PPD and/or chest x-ray results.

MAJOR DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - MEDICAL DIRECTOR FOR ADDICTION TREATMENT SERVICES
- Provides mentorship and education for providers related to medication treatment for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and other addiction treatment
- Responsible for quality of care in MOUD and other addiction treatment services. This may include overseeing a peer review process for MOUD providers and identifying metrics by which to measure quality of care
- Facilitates coordination of addiction treatment across departments and care settings
- Collaborates with behavioral health program manager to identify and pursue grant opportunities to sustain and expand addiction treatment capacity
- Collaborates with the senior director of behavioral health to develop long term strategy around provision of addiction treatment services for Unity patients
- Engages with community partners and governmental agencies to advocate for accessible, high quality addiction treatment
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION
- Licensed or eligible for license to provide direct patient care as physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant
- Board Certification in Addiction Medicine preferred
- Three (3) or more years of demonstrated experience providing addiction treatment services with considerable experience providing MOUD treatment, preferably integrated in a primary care setting
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Must be knowledgeable of principles and new trends in addiction treatment, and be able to apply this knowledge to design, implementation and oversight of addiction treatment services.
- Self-starter with good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Works well alone and in a team environment.
- Knowledge of business and clinical aspects of community health centers strongly desired.
- Ability to communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization is necessary.
- Experience with Microsoft Office365 products and electronic health records is preferred
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
- The Medical Director for Addiction Treatment Services reports to the Deputy Chief Medical Officer.
