For over a decade, Lake Institute has engaged scholars, practitioners, and communities to foster a greater understanding of the ways in which faith inspires and informs generosity. To fulfill this mission, the Managing Director builds external relationships and ensures alignment across all aspects of Lake Institute's resources, educational Programs, and public engagement.

Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Represents Lake in diverse external contexts and develops new partnerships with national philanthropic and nonprofit organizations and/or inter-religious organizations
- Strengthens relationships among internal divisions and develops practices to encourage mutual learning and creativity across units in the school and campus
- Supervises Associate Directors (Operations, Research, Education, Engagement); clarifies, communicates, and applies Lake's financial model and decision-making priorities across internal divisions
- Ensures that resource development is staffed or supported through external contractors; potentially, contributes to resource development by taking lead on specific projects
- Leads team on event planning for public Programs such as Lake Lecture and Distinguished Visitors; Identifies strategic opportunities for additional convening and works with Executive Director on plan for public engagement
- Provide leadership in strategic operations
- Developments and learning
- Provides highest level of operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members to define program methodologies and standards
- Provides direction and guidance on high priority program operations/projects/initiatives
- Establishes short-term business plans and long-term operational objectives, including managing program timelines/deliverables and developing resource plans for multi-project/multiphase program initiatives
- Conducts a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to hiring, promotion, performance management, and dismissal
- Manages high level assignments and allocation of resources, including negotiating and coordinating initiatives that involve staff in other departments/areas/teams
- May coordinate large-scale Programs with a wide audience in support of academic initiatives
- Makes budgetary recommendations/proposals based on resource needs and ensures cost containment
- Researches and stays up to date on new industry program standards, subject matter experts, best practices, and strategic marketing; responsible for the implementation of new protocols/procedures to address business needs
- Works collaboratively with other unit leaders, volunteers, students and/or faculty experts across departments in recommending standards, best practices, and related policies/procedures
- Prepares management reports and summaries for senior administration, executive, steering and advisory committees; acts as advisor to executive committees; serves on various university committees, communities of practice, and task forces related to program development, educational initiatives and institutional priorities

EDUCATION

- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Master's degree in theology, divinity, or religious studies
