Responsibilities
The Associate Principal in conjunction with other Principals of the firm is responsible for client relations, business development and delivery of the Firm's services on projects. An Associate Principal will also serve as a Project Manager for specific clients or projects. This position serves as a critical step towards becoming a full Principal within the Firm, offering the opportunity to demonstrate leadership, business acumen, and design excellence.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, engineering or landscape architecture.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the architecture or engineering industry.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current Professional License in New York State, or equivalent for reciprocity in New York State in practice of the Firm is required.
Shareholder:
- Once eligibility requirements are met, becoming a shareholder in the Firm is required. A shareholder is a Firm owner. Shareholders execute a shareholder agreement and an employment agreement with the Firm.

Leadership and Management
- Lead project teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality work that meets client expectations and adheres to budget and schedule constraints.
- Collaborate with Principals and other senior leaders to develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with the Firm's goals.
- Act as a mentor and coach to junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Client and Business Development
- Assist Principals in cultivating and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Solicit and develop relationships with potential new clients.
- Seek and develop specific project prospect opportunities.
- Represent the Firm at industry events, conferences and networking opportunities to enhance the Firm's reputation and market presence.
Design Excellence
- Provide design leadership on projects, ensuring the delivery of innovative and sustainable solutions.
- Oversee the development of project design from initial concepts through construction documentation, while maintaining the Firm's design standards.
- Ensure that projects adhere to relevant codes, regulations and industry best practices.
Project Management
- Select Project Managers for specific projects and act as Project Manager for specific clients or projects.
- Negotiate fees with input of Project Managers and implement firm risk management practices.
- Develop and sign contracts for professional services for project fee values not exceeding $100,000.00
- Supervise the work of Project Managers on specific projects.
- Establish project schedule, budget, and scope of work with Project Manager.
- Monitor project design and construction with Project Manager.
- Provide quality control review and verify project checking completed prior to issue of Bid Documents.
- Authorize placement of personal professional seal on Construction Documents when required.
- Certify project construction final requisitions, progress payments, and change orders.
