Highway Project Engineer

Objective

Lead the development of transportation infrastructure projects by applying engineering expertise and project management skills. You will spearhead design initiatives for new and existing highway systems while ensuring all work meets safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. This role offers the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to public infrastructure that improves community connectivity and accessibility.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop preliminary and final plans for highway construction and improvement projects
• Analyze and create drainage systems, road alignments, and related engineering elements
• Provide technical leadership to design team members and review their work
• Serve as the primary technical contact with clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies
• Facilitate project meetings, prepare documentation, and maintain comprehensive project files
• Develop creative engineering solutions that align with client objectives and budget constraints
• Research materials and specifications for optimal project outcomes
• Conduct cost analyses and evaluate design alternatives
• Present project proposals and progress updates to stakeholders
• Manage project documentation including design records, technical reports, and budget tracking

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree preferred
• Professional Engineering License (PE)
• 10-15 years of transportation engineering experience, with highway design expertise
• Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads software preferred
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated project management capabilities
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Detail-oriented approach with commitment to quality deliverables
• Collaborative mindset and team-oriented working style
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Adaptability to changing project requirements and timelines
