Description

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the executive leadership team and reports directly to the CEO. This position is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the YMCA to ensure excellence in service, delivery, fiscal integrity, staff development, and program impact. The COO helps shape strategic direction, drives operations results, and fosters a culture aligned with the YMCA's mission and core values.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership & Planning: Lead branch operations, align activities with YMCA's strategic goals, and drive growth initiatives.
  • Operations Management: Oversee daily operations, ensuring high member satisfaction, operational efficiency, and program quality.
  • Financial Stewardship: Develop and manage budgets to achieve organizational goals, focusing on revenue growth and resource allocation.
  • Human Resource Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and develop senior staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Risk Management & Safety: Implement safety protocols to ensure the well-being of staff and members.
  • Community Engagement: Represent the YMCA in community partnerships and foster relationships to enhance impact and visibility.
  • Technology & Innovation: Oversee the adoption of technology to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Reporting & Communication: Provide operational performance reports to the President/CEO and Board, ensuring transparency.


Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, management, or related field, or equivalent executive-level experience. Master's preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of executive-level experience (e.g., Executive Director, Operations Director) with proven success in team leadership and organizational growth.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience in fiscal oversight, budgeting, and financial planning to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Operational Excellence: Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Personal Qualities: Integrity, authenticity, and alignment with YMCA values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility.
