The TikTok Privacy & Security Product team plays a vital role in crafting regulatory-compliant and user-centric privacy solutions for TikTok. Our mission is to instill confidence in TikTok users, regulatory bodies, and the wider community. Our team focuses on developing a range of privacy-related products, encompassing transparency, education, user and underage protection, data access controls, data retention policies, and more.

We are in search of a Technical Lead Manager to spearhead our engineering team dedicated to TikTok's privacy transparency and education initiatives. In this role, you will oversee a group of skilled engineers specializing in full-stack, front-end, and back-end development. Your primary responsibility will involve fostering seamless teamwork within the group and across cross-functional teams (XFN) that include Product Managers, User Researchers, Data Scientists, and QAs. Your leadership will be instrumental in establishing user trust through educational efforts in private practices and improving transparency among other objectives.

Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of engineers and collaborate with PM teams to gain user trust by providing privacy transparency and privacy education features.
- Work with PM and other partner teams to shape the roadmap of privacy transparency and education direction.
- Manage resources and budgets to optimize team performance and achieve business objectives.
- Define and drive the technical vision, strategy, and roadmap.
- Ensure the timely delivery of high-quality features and improvements
- Continuously improve the quality, efficiency, and security of the system
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including product managers, data scientists, and infrastructure teams.
- Foster a team environment that facilitates learning, development, and achievement for all members.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Has hands on software development background and understands complex backend systems
- Strong experience in architecting and implementing modern, large-scale, consumer-facing web applications.
- Had solid user-facing product experience in building, designing, and scaling software architecture
- 2 years of experience in managing or technically leading a software engineering team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical challenges.
- Experience of driving collaboration across cross functional teams on delivering shared goals.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor or above degree in Computer Science with 5 years of industry experience in privacy engineering, security engineering, or implementing privacy features and solutions.
- Strong product sense, with experience driving user-facing products/features from 0 to 1.
- Experience with user-facing privacy or compliance products

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency]Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $212800 - $389500 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
