Essential Functions:
The licensed speech and language pathologist will provide expertise in speech and language and related services, serving as an integral part of our clinical team.They will conduct assessments, consult, and counsel, as well as design and develop treatment plans and interventions that meet the individualized needs of students. They will maintain key relationships and collaborate as needed and required with students, their families and all levels of staff at the Shrub Oak International School to ensure that the individualized needs of each student are met. Having access to confidential information, discretion and independent judgment is required.

Physical Requirements/Demands:
A workday regularly includes multiple or conflicting demands, deadlines and time pressures; work regularly requires sustained concentration. Standing for sustained periods of time, bending, stretching, walking up and down stairs (building has 6 floors), around a hilly campus as needed, may also require walking between floors or between buildings at a moment's notice. May need to lift/moveboxes up to 25 pounds and move or rearrange furniture.
Work Environment:
We are a boarding school located on a 127-acre campus. The work environment will include both indoor and outdoor spaces, mostly inside the classroom or educational environment. May include work within the residential setting. The building has 6 floors accessible by staircases and elevators.

- Provides individual and group speech and language services within a transdisciplinary model that are individualized in nature and meet the needs of each student
- Utilizes a variety of treatment approaches that are safe, creative and individualized to a particular student's needs
- Continually monitor students' progress and adjust treatments accordingly based on clinical observations and data collection
- Collaborates with other clinicians, and members of the Education and Residential team, to ensure carryover and generalization of communication skills across all aspects of a students' day
- Maintains appropriate records and reports as required
- Participates in professional development and Shrub Oak activities to advance field knowledge and to remain at the forefront of clinical advancements in the areas of intervention, evaluation, life skills and related areas
- Actively assists with other programs, events, and services administered through Shrub Oak and may be involved in a wider range of responsibilities

Requirements:
Experience & Education:
- New York State SLP license in good professional standing required
- TSSLD certification required
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathologyrequired; doctorate degree preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience required; experience working with students with developmental disabilities or on the autistic spectrum in a school setting is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication systems (AAC) required

- Exceptional communication (oral and written) and active listening skills to appropriately understand and meet student needs. Must also be able to effectively communicate and interact with faculty, staff, families, and all external constituencies.

- Computer proficiency with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software, and the ability to learn Azimuth SIS (our database management software).
- Ability to think analytically and critically, assessing a variety of information to make complex judgments on student situations, outcomes, and Shrub Oak policies and protocols.
- Ability to handle highly challenging behaviors, including those aggressive in nature
- Ability to get TCIS trained and complete/maintain all required trainings
