Regional General Manager - Eastern Operations

The Regional General Manager - Eastern Operations is responsible for overseeing the execution of construction and maintenance projects to ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and financial objectives. This role includes managing project performance, controlling costs, and maximizing profitability. Additionally, the GM is responsible for business development, securing traditional utility, industrial, and large-scale service and maintenance work within their assigned region.

The GM will lead regional construction managers, oversee budgets, and manage operations for local business units. This position also plays a critical role in talent development, customer engagement, and union relationship management, driving sustainable growth and operational excellence within the region.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Contract & Project Oversight

  • Understand and effectively communicate contract terms and conditions (T&Cs) to ensure compliance and risk management.
  • Monitor project change management issues, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
  • Oversee, review, and approve project execution, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Manage project P&L within the assigned region, optimizing financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ethics programs, and industry regulations across all projects.


  • Business Development & Strategic Growth

  • Identify and target future bid opportunities to drive regional business growth.
  • Oversee the performance of multiple large service and outage projects across the region.
  • Address, advise on, and assist with critical project issues within the area of responsibility.
  • Communicate significant project challenges and risks to senior management, providing data-driven recommendations.


  • Talent Management & Leadership

  • Lead and develop regional teams, ensuring strong succession planning and talent retention.
  • Challenge project teams to be customer- and performance-driven, fostering a culture of accountability.
  • Manage staffing for multiple project job sites, ensuring resource allocation aligns with operational needs.
  • Oversee training, development, and career growth initiatives for local and remote employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and ensure continuous development of staff within the assigned district.


  • Labor Relations & Union Engagement

  • Frequently represent BWCC in discussions with organized labor, including jurisdictional issues, pre-job conferences, and grievance processes.
  • Serve as a key representative in collective bargaining committees, apprenticeship programs, national trust funds, and labor/management industry committees within the region.
  • Provide significant oversight of contract negotiations and resolve contract execution issues.


  • Operational Excellence & Reporting

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), track action plans, and report strategies to the P&L Leader.
  • Continuously improve operational efficiencies and project execution strategies to drive business success.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support business and project objectives.


  • Qualifications

    Education/Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered).
    • 10+ years of experience in construction management, project management, or a similar leadership role within the utility, industrial, or maintenance sectors.
    • Proven track record of successfully managing regional construction projects, including financial oversight and contract compliance.
    • Strong knowledge of construction methods, industry regulations, safety standards, and labor laws.
    • Experience with business development, sales strategies, and client relationship management in the construction industry.
    • Previous experience managing union relationships and collective bargaining agreements is preferred.
    • Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management.
    • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with experience in mentoring and developing managers.
    • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
    • Ability to travel within the assigned region as required.
