SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
Under the general direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools, this position provides comprehensive guidance, support, and oversight for Associated Student Body (ASB) and Athletic programs across district buildings. The role involves support to ASB secretaries, advisors, Athletic Directors (ADs), Athletic Coordinators (ACs), and coaches, ensuring the effective operation and compliance of these programs. This includes facilitating training and professional development, developing and implementing sound ASB and Athletic budgeting processes in collaboration with the District Finance Office, and coordinating the alignment of middle school programs with high school programs to include Unified Sports. Ultimately, this position plays a critical role in fostering a cohesive and well-supported extracurricular environment for students and ensuring equity in school athletic programs.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a regular office and school environments. Some travel to and between school sites is necessary. Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms, and to listen carefully and focus while filtering out normal office noise. Ability to speak and see clearly; sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; lift 35 pounds; and bend, twist, walk, and reach requiring ordinary physical effort are all required. Expected to attend evening meetings. Exposure to normal levels of office dust, VDT screens, and office machines and required chemicals are part of the job. Greater than normal exposure at swimming pools, athletic events, and other school sponsored outdoor activities. Occasionally exposed to distraught, angry or hostile individuals. Teamwork and high productivity requirements create frequent extra hour days, attendance at meetings before and after work, and weekend work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide Comprehensive Guidance and Support:
- Offer expert guidance and assistance to ASB secretaries, advisors, Athletic Directors (ADs), Athletic Coordinators (ACs), and coaches across district buildings in compliance with state and federal laws.
- Act as a primary point of contact for inquiries and issues related to ASB and athletic programs.
- Ensure program compliance and effective operation in compliance with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). WIAA, district policy, and state and federal laws.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to district policies, regulations, and relevant athletic association rules.
- Oversee the operational effectiveness of ASB and athletic programs, identifying and addressing areas for improvement.
- Regularly attend middle school and high school athletic and activities events.
- Promotes "culture of sportsmanship, integrity, respect, loyalty and academic achievement" by all athletes.
Facilitate Training and Professional Development:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate training programs for ASB secretaries, advisors, ADs, ACs, and coaches.
- Organize and conduct professional development workshops and seminars to enhance staff knowledge and skills.
- Develop and implement budgeting processes:
- Collaborate with the District Finance Office to establish and implement sound ASB and athletic budgeting procedures.
- Monitor and manage program budgets, ensuring responsible financial practices.
Coordinate Program Alignment:
- Facilitate the coordination, articulation, and alignment of middle school athletic and ASB programs with high school programs.
- Ensure a smooth transition process for students progressing from middle school to high school.
Program Oversight:
- Monitor all ASB and Athletic programs district wide to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
- Implement systems of checks and balances to ensure proper financial handling of ASB and athletic funds.
- Oversees compliance with WIAA regulations at the district level.
- Submit required athletic and activities reports in accordance with state and federal deadlines.
- Ensure equity in school athletic programs in accordance with the OSPI.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Master's Degree in Education, Recreation, Administration, or related field
- Two (2) years of successful High School Athletic Director experience
- Three years (3) years of successful high school coach experience
- Three years of successful teaching experience
- Alternate experience demonstrating the required skills may be taken into consideration as determined by the district.
Certification and Licenses
Valid Washington State Administrator Certificate with a program or principal endorsement.
