As a Power System Optimization Engineer at ETAP, you will play a key role in developing and enhancing ETAP's power system analysis and optimization software tools. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and support advanced algorithms that help utilities, industries, and infrastructure projects achieve reliable and efficient power system operations. Your work will directly impact the ability of ETAP's customers to optimize their electrical networks, integrate renewable energy resources, and improve overall grid performance.

As a Power System Optimization Engineer at ETAP, you will play a key role in developing and enhancing ETAP's power system analysis and optimization software tools. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and support advanced algorithms that help utilities, industries, and infrastructure projects achieve reliable and efficient power system operations. Your work will directly impact the ability of ETAP's customers to optimize their electrical networks, integrate renewable energy resources, and improve overall grid performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Algorithm Development:
Develop and refine optimization algorithms for unbalanced power flow, DER sizing, economic dispatch, and more. Improve scalability and performance of existing models. - System Modeling & Simulation:
Build and validate power system models (generation, transmission, DERs). Simulate scenarios to test optimization under real-world conditions. - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with R&D and software teams to integrate optimization modules into ETAP. Support API design and data exchange integration. - Customer Support & Customization:
Assist global clients with implementation, customization, and training. Gather feedback for product improvements. - Research & Innovation:
Stay ahead of trends in smart grids and energy markets. Contribute to research, white papers, and technical presentations. - Documentation & Compliance:
Create and maintain technical documentation. Ensure adherence to standards like IEEE and IEC.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
- Strong knowledge of power system control, dynamics, and optimization
- Experience with DERs, renewable energy systems, and microgrids
- Familiarity with ETAP or similar simulation tools
- Programming skills in C++, C#, or Python
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and self-driven
