Requirements
As a Nurse Practitioner, you will play a key role in evaluating and managing orthopedic patients, supporting both surgical and non-surgical care. On days when the surgeon is in the OR, the NP will independently manage pre-operative visits as well as annual or urgent follow-up appointments. On clinic days, you will work as part of the team, providing patient education, coordinating surgical details, and assisting with other clinical duties to support patient care. This role offers variety, autonomy, and the chance to build meaningful continuity with patients across the full spectrum of orthopedic care.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-operative evaluations and prepare patients for surgery
- Independently manage annual and urgent follow-up visits when the surgeon is in the OR
- Support the clinical team by performing RN duties on in-office clinic days
- Perform joint injections and minor procedures, as appropriate
- Collaborate with surgeons, physician assistants, and nursing staff to coordinate care
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and recovery plans
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record system
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team-based care coordination
- Triage and respond to patient inquiries both in person and by phone
Qualifications:
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Virginia
- Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP (AGPCNP)
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and patient education skills
- Ability to thrive in a team-based, fast-paced environment
