Compensation:

$100-125K Salary range (OTE $150-$175K) + Commissions + Benefits

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and driven Certified Payment Specialist (CPS) Leader to lead and scale a team of Certified Payment Specialists focused on onboarding and growing high-value merchant relationships. This is a pivotal role for a leader who understands the complexities of high-risk payments, excels in team development, and can optimize client engagement and account growth in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and scale a team responsible for merchant onboarding, account management, and retention of high-value merchants.
  • High-Risk Payments Expertise: Leverage your knowledge of high-risk merchant services to navigate client challenges and guide the team through underwriting, onboarding, and risk management processes.
  • Portfolio Oversight: Oversee the team's management of a dedicated book of high-value merchants, ensuring growth, profitability, client satisfaction, and long-term retention.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Underwriting, Sales, and Operations to accelerate approvals, merchant onboarding, improve client experiences, and drive operational efficiency.
  • Process Improvement: Identify operational gaps and lead initiatives to improve onboarding, account management, and client retention workflows.
  • Performance Management: Track KPIs across onboarding timelines, MID utilization, upsells, client satisfaction, and team productivity.

Support and Activities:
  • Engage in active learning through training and mentoring to improve personal effectiveness, ongoing self-development as well as that of the CPS team and the company.
  • Participate in delivering training and providing constructive input to peers.
  • Contribute to projects aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of sales, the CPS group, and the company, including providing feedback on SOPs and supporting initiatives to improve closure rates.

Qualifications:
  • Proven leadership experience within high-risk merchant services or payments.
  • Background managing teams responsible for a book of high-value merchants.
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting, onboarding, risk, and account management processes.
  • Ability to drive results through coaching, cross-functional collaboration, and operational excellence.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.
  • Willingness to travel quarterly to Austin for executive planning sessions.

  • Remote-first role with optional relocation support for those interested in moving to our Austin, TX headquarters.
