Overview
Under the direction of the Department Director, the Business Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day business operations including budget, complex data system analysis to support both operational and financial initiatives. The Business Manager collaborates with department leaders in planning, operating and organizing the capital and operating budgets and related financial activities for all divisions and cost centers reporting to the Department Director and Department Chair. The Business Manager recommends and implements actions to improve business and department performance. Provides management oversight of non-clinical support staff as assigned. This position will collaborate with internal and external leaders to improve operational performance inclusive of patient access, patient experience, clinic/OR utilization, and other key operational performance metrics.
Responsibilities
Produces capital and operating budgets under the direction of
the Department Director, Chair and Division Chief and in
concert with Senior Management and Finance. Implements
and monitors approved budgets. Reviews monthly financial
statements with the Department Director, Chair and Division
Chief.
Work on special projects as stipulated by Chair.
Promotes financial viability of division and programs through
appropriate budgeting and monitoring of financial
performance related to pricing strategies, revenues,
expenditures, and resource management.
Assists to develop performance improvement plans and
implement performance improvement projects.
Plays a key role in strategic planning for clinical programs
through the development of Vision/Mission/Goals,
implementation of the strategic plan and tracking metrics on
progress.
Coordinate development or develop detailed contract
budgets/proformas for/with Department Chairs and the
Departments of Finance and Budgets and Accounting based
on input, historical trends, forecasts and projections.
Supervises, hires, trains, and evaluates performance of staff.
Ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely
manner. Participates in budget development.
Manages the Spend Map purchase process from supply
order, product receipt and payment reconciliation.
Collaborates with Director and Managers to ensure par levels
meet expectation and expenses are within budget.
Develops, leads and supports patient experience projects.
Collaborates with providers and staff to implement/integrate
new patient experience initiatives.
Maintain and track status of departmental contracts through
the use of the contract database and ensure timely renewals
and renegotiation.
Qualifications
Experience Requirements: 5 years - healthcare industry experience with Bachelor's Degree - required or 2 years - Healthcare industry experience with Master's Degree required or 1 year- post-graduate Healthcare Administrative Residency/Fellowship- required
Education: Bachelors - Health Administration, Business Administration and/or Allied Health - required Masters - Health Administration, Business Administration and/or Allied Health - preferred 5-8 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree will be considered.
Travel: Up to 50% Supervises: 1-100 - All staff who work in the clinic offices. Each administrator will manage 1 5 clinics.
