Description

As a Sourcing Manager at Impulse, you will collaborate with multiple departments to support procurement and supplier management activities for hardware and materials critical to the production and manufacturing of spacecraft. A key aspect of this role will be overseeing supplier qualification processes to ensure that all suppliers meet the required performance, quality, and compliance standards. You will be responsible for evaluating potential suppliers and building long-term partnerships to ensure the timely and reliable delivery of materials essential for mission success.

Responsibilities
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure on-time delivery, quality, and cost optimization. Maintain an open orders report to track vendor performance, resolve any delays, and drive accountability for schedule recovery
  • Lead high-volume Request for Proposals (RFPs) to evaluate and select suppliers based on cost, lead time, and capabilities. Negotiate favorable pricing and ensure supplier qualification for new parts during the onboarding process
  • Own the request queue for quoting and purchase order (PO) issuance across various commodity part types, ensuring a 24-48 hour turnaround depending on part complexity.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers to maintain up-to-date configurations of bills of materials (BOM) in a fast-paced, dynamic design environment
  • Evaluate demand for shared BOM components across multiple programs, forecast needs to suppliers, assess their capacity, and manage supply signals to adjust incoming material and meet production timelines with optimal batch cadences
  • Onboard new suppliers, manage their profiles, and ensure accurate documentation, including general information and payment terms
  • Collaborate with the legal department to draft and finalize contract documents.
  • Source custom-designed parts, identifying the best suppliers by matching part specifications with supplier capabilities, lead time, and cost considerations
  • Partner with design and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure timely design releases, accurate lead time assumptions, and efficient vendor selection under constrained schedules
  • Monitor inventory levels against demand and consumption patterns, implementing systems to procure materials efficiently and accurately
  • Coordinate logistics for outsourced parts, drop shipments, and open order management, ensuring on-time delivery according to PO promise dates and maintaining supplier performance
  • Oversee the accuracy of receipts against purchase orders (POs) and vendor invoices, ensuring accurate accounting and financial tracking for the business


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience working with ERP or inventory management systems
  • 4+ years of experience in procurement, logistics, and vendor relationship management


Preferred Skills and Experience
  • 6+ years of experience in procurement or sourcing, including contract negotiations and cost analysis
  • Experience with commodities such as Machining, Additive Manufacturing, COTS (Fittings, Fasteners, Washers, etc.), Metal Raw Materials, PCB/PCBA, Composites, or Aerospace/Space-related components
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes related to mechanical components
  • Proven experience building dashboard tools to automate repetitive tasks
  • Strong data analysis skills, with proficiency in Excel, SQL, and Power BI

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
