Job Summary

As the Sr. Manager, Project Engineering for Capital Projects at our Freeport LNG export facility, you will play a pivotal role in leading the multi-disciplinary engineering efforts for our capital projects group. Collaborating closely with outside Engineering Contractors, Engineering Discipline Leads, Project Management, and other key stakeholders, you will oversee the design, engineering, and technical aspects of projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company specifications. Your strategic insights and technical expertise will drive innovation, efficiency, and excellence across our project portfolio.

In addition to your primary responsibilities, you will spearhead the continuous improvement of our stage gate work processes for Project Execution, driving enhancements that optimize project outcomes and streamline workflows. Moreover, you will diligently monitor, report, and control progress and performance against project schedule plans, proactively identifying and addressing any deviations to ensure timely and successful project delivery.

Duties/Responsibilities
Lead the multi-disciplinary engineering efforts for capital projects, collaborating closely with Project Managers, Operations, Maintenance, Procurement, and OH&S teams.
Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development through detailed design, construction, and start-up.
Oversee the development and review of engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company specifications.
Coordinate with external engineering firms, consultants, and vendors to support project objectives and ensure quality and timely deliverables.
Drive innovation and continuous improvement in engineering processes, methodologies, and technologies to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
Conduct thorough technical reviews and risk assessments to identify potential challenges and develop mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with Project Managers to develop and implement engineering execution plans, resource allocation strategies, and project schedules.
Facilitate clear and effective communication between engineering disciplines, project teams, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and resolution of technical issues.
Provide mentorship and coaching to engineering staff, fostering a culture of learning, development, and excellence within the department.
Support Business Development initiatives by providing technical expertise and conducting feasibility studies and technical assessments for potential opportunities.
Participate in strategic decision-making processes, providing technical insights and recommendations to support project objectives and organizational goals.

Essential Functions

Minimum Qualification/Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with advanced Technical Degree or MBA preferred
Minimum of 30 years' experience in engineering roles, with a focus on capital projects in the oil & gas, refinery, or industrial sectors.
Demonstrated leadership experience, with a track record of successfully leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
Strong technical expertise in engineering design, analysis, and project execution, with knowledge of industry best practices and standards.
Experience with LNG projects and familiarity with FERC and PHMSA regulations.
Engineering Manager Experience on LNG mega projects, as well as Project Management experience with smaller capital projects and turnaround work in an operating facility is preferred.

Proficiency in engineering software and tools, with advanced knowledge of design and analysis methodologies.

HSE Roles and Responsibilities
Support and actively participate in Freeport LNG's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Management System, prioritizing safety in all activities.
Implement routine inspections to ensure safe operating conditions and cultivate a strong safety culture, inclusive of stop work authority.

Working Conditions and Physical Expectations

Location/Travel Information

This role is primarily based at Freeport LNG's Headquarters in Houston, with occasional travel to various company locations, including liquefaction and pretreatment facilities near Freeport TX. Additionally, you may visit EPC company offices in the greater Houston area, as well as vendor or supplier locations, as project needs dictate. A valid driver's license and TWIC are essential for performing the duties of this role.

Work Environment
Must be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment and operate in a professional office environment, both within and outside of industrial plant settings.

Physical Demands
Ability to travel to various company locations and vendor facilities as required.
Capacity to move throughout all areas of the facility, including confined spaces and elevated heights.
Excellent verbal and auditory capabilities for effective communication during fieldwork and project activities.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Valid Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) required.
