Description
The Dane County Department of Administration's Division of Information Management has a current vacancy for a full time (1.0 FTE) Systems Administrator I - Citrix/Virtual Desktops. The Eligible List created from this posting may be used for future vacancies within the next six (6) months.

DEFINITION

Under general supervision from the Technical Services Manger this position is responsible for deploying and maintaining the computing infrastructure for the Dane County Information Management (DCIM), a division of the Department of Administration (DOA). Refer to each individual position description for more specific tasks assigned to each position.
The starting level within the Systems Administrator I - III progression will be determined by the evaluation of the knowledge and experience of the staff being hired.
EXAMPLES OF SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR DUTIES BY POSITION

APPLICATIONS: This position deploys and maintains virtualized and non-virtualized applications running on Windows Workstations, and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD). Additionally, this position administers and maintains the user experience of Windows workstations using Microsoft Active Directory, Configuration Manager (SCCM), and cloud platforms (Azure AD, Intune, and Office 365).
AUDIO/VISUAL/TELECOMMUNICATIONS: This position installs and maintains a variety of physical equipment and SaaS platforms that are used by County staff and stakeholders. Works with the following hardware and software: Analog Phone Lines, VoIP technology, Cellular, Wifi, Radio Systems, Polycom, H.264/AVC, Linux and Windows platform based devices. GoToMeeting, Teams and Zoom are SaaS platforms that this position will also work extensively within.
CITRIX / VIRTUAL DESKTOPS: This position manages, maintains, and supports Dane County's Citrix infrastructure, primarily focusing on Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops infrastructure servers and XenServer hypervisor hosts. The duties include installing, configuring, and updating Citrix components like Delivery Controllers, StoreFront servers, and Virtual Delivery Agents (VDAs). This position monitors system performance, optimizes resource allocation, and ensures high availability and reliability of virtual applications and desktops. This position also handles user access, WYSE Thin Client packages, profile management, and application publishing while troubleshooting and resolving connectivity, performance, and compatibility issues. They work closely with network, storage, and security teams to maintain a secure, scalable, and efficient environment.
INFRASTRUCTURE: This position designs, implements and maintains physical devices to that run VMware, Linux and Microsoft Operating Systems. Handles enterprise storage solutions to house departmental and user data utilizing various SANs and data protection systems.
NETWORKING: This position develops and maintains networking solutions, which are used by County Staff and stakeholders in the performance of their duties. Networking solutions include but are not limited to: Software Defined Networking (SDN), Fiber, Ethernet, VOIP, Video, Wireless, SCATA, Radio, and Satellite. This position also works with the Technical Service Manager to design and deploy Dane County's Data Centers.
PUBLIC SAFETY: This position develops and maintains public safety systems that are used by County Staff in the performance of their duties. Works with the following Hardware and Software: Mobile Data Computers(MDC), NetMotion Servers and Clients, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) clients, Vehicle Electronics (GPS Unit, Video equipment, Cellular Devices, Driver's License scanners, Printers, Radios),Taser and Taser Cameras, and all Windows Servers related to Public Safety.
SECURITY: This position implements and supports Cyber Security Systems used by Dane County. This position develops and conducts security awareness training, creates and maintains security policies, conducts security audits, and monitors system usage to ensure compliance will all security polices. This position works with the following Hardware and Software: Firewalls, Security Information Management (SIM) Systems, Email Protection System, Anti-Virus systems, IDS and IDP systems, user activity reporting systems, Mobile Device Management (MDM), security awareness training systems, Security Policy Creation, and responds to Security Audits.
SERVERS: This position deploys and manages virtualized and non-virtualized servers running on VMware, Linux, and Microsoft Windows operating systems. This position works with the following Hardware and Software: Microsoft SharePoint servers, Microsoft SQL servers and Microsoft Windows Servers running as guest in VMWARE or as Physical Servers.

Education, Experience and Special Requirements
Education, Training and Experience:

The entry level (System Administrator I) requires any combination of training and experience equivalent to an Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Information Technology related field and one (1) year of experience in an Information Technology related occupation.
The starting level within the Systems Administrator I-III progression will be determined by the evaluation of the knowledge and experience of the staff being hired.
Special Requirements:
This position requires access to personal transportation and requires a valid driver's license.
Due to the nature of this position, overtime, after-hours work and the ability to respond to after-hours service calls are critical requirements, as Dane County Information Management supports facilities such as 911, Dane County Jail and Sheriff's Department, Badger Prairie Health Care Center, and the Child abuse hotline.
Additionally, due to the nature of the data stored and the facilities it works in, this position requires a complete background check which includes fingerprinting.

    Bilingual Pay: Employees who work in bilingual designated positions receive an additional $2.00 per hour.

    Undesirable Hours Premium Pay: Employees may receive undesirable hours pay of $2.00 for anytime worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m and for anytime on Saturday and/or Sunday. (not applicable with all employee groups).

    Paid Parental Leave: Dane County also provides 12 weeks of paid parental leave for birth or adoption of a child.

    Caregiver Leave: Dane County offers 80 hours of paid leave to care for an ill family member.

    Telecommuting: Telecommuting allows employees to work remotely for all or part of their workweek. Dane County considers telecommuting to be a viable, flexible option when both the employee and the job are suited to such an arrangement. Dane County will permit telecommuting when it benefits the productivity of the employee and their department and if determined by employee's department that telecommuting is not detrimental to either the County or the employee.
