Job Summary
East Tennessee State University's College of Medicine is seeking an innovative and accomplished leader to serve as the Chair of the Department of Medical Education (DME). The Department Chair will play a central role in shaping the future of medical education, overseeing the delivery of innovative teaching in the pre-clinical, clinical, and graduate medical education programs. This position combines leadership in both administrative functions and academic duties, with a focus on continuous curricular improvement, faculty collaboration, and the advancement of educational methods. The Chair will work closely with the Dean of Medicine, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, and other key stakeholders to ensure the department's alignment with the university's mission, policies, and goals.
The Chair will be responsible for fostering a collegial, scholarly environment that supports faculty excellence, while promoting student and faculty mentoring, career development, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This role includes recruitment, development, and performance evaluation of faculty, as well as overseeing departmental budgeting, policies, and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will maintain an active research and teaching program, engage in student recruitment and community outreach, and contribute to the advancement of educational scholarship. With responsibilities in academic oversight, fundraising, and advocacy, the Department Chair will be a key figure in advancing the department's educational goals and promoting a positive and productive work environment for faculty, staff, and students.

Required Qualifications
- An earned terminal degree in a field recognized within the discipline of medical and biomedical sciences.
- The successful candidate should expect to maintain an active program of research and teaching.
- A solid record of teaching and scholarly activities required for a minimal appointment to the rank of associate professor.
