We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist for AWS Finance to drive data-driven insights across AWS's entire financial ecosystem. This role presents a unique opportunity to work with AWS's comprehensive financial data landscape, applying advanced analytics and machine learning to generate actionable insights that inform strategic decision-making at scale. You will be instrumental in building sophisticated analytical frameworks that provide visibility into AWS's financial health, growth patterns, and operational efficiency across all business units.

As a key member of AWS Fintech, you'll partner with finance leaders, product teams, and business stakeholders to transform complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that drive AWS's strategic direction. You'll help shape how AWS understands and optimizes its financial performance across its global operations.

Key job responsibilities

- Use statistical and machine learning techniques to create the next generation of the tools that inform strategic decision-making at AWS's highest levels

- Design and implement scalable analytical frameworks to measure and analyze AWS's financial performance across all business units

- Create predictive models and analytical solutions that provide deep insights into revenue patterns, cost structures, and growth opportunities

- Develop innovative approaches to complex financial problems using advanced statistical methods and machine learning

- Partner with finance leaders to identify key business questions and translate them into analytical solutions

- Drive the adoption of data-driven decision making across AWS Finance

- Mentor junior data scientists and promote best practices in financial analytics

Our vision is to create a comprehensive finance data platform for AWS that automates repetitive data management operations, enabling finance users to focus on what matters most: telling a story with data and making informed business decisions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of data scientist experience

- 5+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience

- Bachelor's degree

- Strong experience with statistical modeling, machine learning, and causal inference

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Demonstrated success in leading large-scale analytical projects

- Experience building and managing data science platforms or pipelines

- Track record of effective collaboration with senior business leaders

- Experience mentoring data scientists and driving technical excellence

- Strong business acumen and ability to connect analytics to business outcomes

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
