Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager of Adolescent Mental Health Services South Health Campus, the Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse - Triage/Group Nurse will collaborate with the interdisciplinary health care teams in both the inpatient mental health unit and the outpatient mental health clinic. They will provide excellence in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care developing strong skills in mental status assessment, de-escalation, and conflict resolution. The RN/RPN will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta.The RN/RPN will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. Working in a collaborative manner within a multi-disciplinary team, the RN/RPN will co-facilitate psychoeducational, therapeutic, and behavioral activation groups on an acute mental health adolescent inpatient unit as well as virtually and in-person at an outpatient mental health clinic. The RN/RPN will present patients at case conferences and work with the interdisciplinary team to create individualized treatment plans. The RN/RPN will work with members of the treatment team to triage new referrals, communicating with referral sources as required. Additionally, the RN/RPN will be required to participate in program planning and enhancement of groups and will regularly engage in clinical group supervision to continue to develop group facilitation skills.This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program.Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
NVCI (non-violent crisis intervention). Experience with facilitating/co-facilitating psychoeducational and behavioral activation groups with youth experiencing mental health concerns. A minimum of 3 years' experience working in acute mental health services.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous child and adolescent mental health experience preferred. Knowledge of and experience with Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS). Background in Change ways or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and/or Cognitive Behavioral Social Skills Therapy (CBSST). Certification in the Core Brain Story (available through the Alberta Family Wellness Initiative) is preferred.
