Job Description
Connecticut Children's Heart Institute offers full range of pediatric cardiology services. These include but are not limited to complex congenital heart surgeries, catheter interventions and electrophysiology interventions. There is a robust fetal cardiology program with four fetal Cardiologist and the section of non-invasive imaging with state of the art 3T Cardiac MRI capabilities.
The Non-Invasive Imaging/Fetal Cardiologist responsibilities will include a mix of non-invasive cardiac imaging (TTE, TEE, Fetal, cardiac CT/MRI) and general cardiology outpatient clinical effort and teaching medical students, residents and fellows. This Cardiologist will work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide superior clinical care to our patients/families members. This team includes 8 echocardiography technicians, 7 dedicated echo readers, two cardiac MRI trained cardiologists and 4 fetal Cardiologists along with others.
The services will predominantly be provided in our Fairfield county location with some dedicated time at the Connecticut Children's main campus in Hartford and some outreach in South Hadley, MA.
The position will be a non-tenure-eligible Clinician-Educator track at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. Proposed rank will be determined by qualifications.
Responsibilities
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform inpatient and outpatient pediatric cardiology evaluations and testing, including interpretation of ECGs, echocardiograms, ambulatory electrocardiography, and exercise stress testing in the pediatric age group.
Maintain timely and complete chart notes, reports, and communication with primary care/referring physicians and other relevant subspecialty physicians.
Maintain open and timely communication with patients, families, and guardians.
Participate in multidisciplinary clinical management initiatives with other divisions,
Facilitate patient referrals.
Participate in division and department quality improvement initiatives, including within the department.
Assists in the planning and direction of health programs within the appropriate specialty.
Conducts training or assists in the training of interns and resident physicians.
Maintains varied hours on a rotated schedule with other physicians to ensure that there is always a physician on-call during non-business hours.
Faculty appointment is offered at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine
Comply with all billing, coding, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in Department of Pediatrics grand rounds, morbidity and mortality conferences, and faculty development education.
Maintain appropriate licensures and certifications.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision and teaching of medical students, residents and fellows.
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
MD or DO required.
New graduates may be considered on case by case basis.
Advanced training in cardiac MRI and fetal cardiology will be preferred.
Position Specific Job Education and/or Experience
Advanced fellowship in non-invasive imaging.
LICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Licensed and registered, and in good standing under the laws of the State of Connecticut or must be eligible for a Connecticut medical license.
Board Certification/Board Eligibility in Pediatric Cardiology and advanced training in non-invasive imaging.
