Position Overview:

Farallon is seeking an accomplished Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive leadership team. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the CFO will play a key role in shaping the firm's financial strategy and driving sustainable growth.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, relationship-based leader with strong emotional intelligence and a collaborative mindset. You thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy solving complex financial challenges, and leverage data and technology to support informed business decisions. Experience in environmental consulting, engineering, or professional services is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Leadership:
Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the firm's growth objectives.
Lead the annual budgeting process and provide ongoing financial forecasting.
Deliver insightful financial analyses to inform executive decision-making.
Present financial reports and recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors.
Monitor dealings with high-risk clients and assist in developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies to secure receivables balances.
Develop and promote a framework to drive financial accountability across the organization, providing timely and meaningful analysis and reporting to operational leaders.

Debt, Cash, and Investment Management:
Oversee cash flow, investments, insurance, contract review / risk management and financial reporting.
Manage the company's debt portfolio, including loan negotiations and administration.
Optimize working capital, including accounts receivable and payable management.

Banking & Financial Relationships:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with banks and financial institutions.
Negotiate and manage credit facilities and banking services to support financial needs.

Compliance, Tax, and Audits:
Ensure full compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards.
Oversee tax reporting, filing, and compliance with applicable laws.
Collaborate with external auditors and lead the annual financial review / audit process.

Acquisitions & Growth Strategy:
Lead financial due diligence for potential acquisitions, ensuring accurate valuation and risk assessment.
Partner with executive leadership on deal structuring, negotiation, and integration planning.
Align acquisition strategies with the firm's long-term objectives.

ESOP Management:
Oversee the financial aspects of the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), including valuations, transactions, and compliance.
Educate and support employees on the benefits and structure of the ESOP.

Operational Oversight & Team Leadership:
Lead the finance and accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Oversee administrative functions, including firm administration and facilities management.
Develop and implement policies to enhance operational efficiency.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

Required:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
15+ years of financial management experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role, ideally as a CFO.
Proven experience in the AEC industry (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) or similar professional services.
Proficiency in Deltek Vision and VantagePoint software is a plus.
Strong knowledge of financial principles, GAAP, and regulatory compliance.
Expertise in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis.
Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams in a fast-paced environment.
High ethical standards and commitment to corporate governance.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
Primarily an office-based role with occasional travel for business meetings or site visits.
Ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer, and perform typical office duties.
May need to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally for office-related tasks.
Work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple priorities.

Salary:

Our best estimate of the base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $225,000. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. Farallon reviews and updates salary ranges annually, and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Farallon's total compensation package for our employee-owners.
