Summary:
The Financial Recovery Team Leader - Commercial manages all criticized credit portfolio activities for an assigned Commercial segment, as well as leadership responsibilities that include managing a team of Financial Recovery Representatives who engage in successful and proactive loan workout strategies for Criticized, Classified and Non-Performing Commercial loans. Portfolios of Representatives under management consist of complicated, sophisticated and borrower tailored loan structures. Given complexity, Representatives manage portfolios of approximately 15-18 relationships and utilize outside attorneys to review and document all lending activity. This position provides guidance and recommendations that meet Group objectives for implementation of strategic action plans, achieving risk mitigation, account resolution objectives and agreed time frames for exposures managed by the team. Directs and assures the prudent collection of charged-off loans, optimal engagement of outside legal counsel, and such other activities as may be required. Also, in this role you may maintain direct involvement in major relationships, including negotiating and structuring complex transactions and credits. May represent Huntington in the professional marketplace/community through: business related professional networks, Huntington sponsored events and is active in community events, serving on local boards, demonstrating Huntington's support for the local community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise, coach, and develop a team of Financial Recovery Representatives to ensure loan policy, credit guidelines and regulatory guidelines are met.
- Assist team members in developing strategies and determining best course of action on distressed commercial loans.
- Relationships will be sophisticated and have exposures of between $5 million and $500 million.
- Often the engagement will require a team of specialists from Treasury, Capital Markets, Credit and Operations.
- Partner with regional and specialty underwriting and credit teams in identifying problem commercial loans and "shadow" customers at risk of further distress.
- Proactively take steps to minimize loss and/or maximize recovery by working with team members and customers to establish mutually beneficial framework in problem loan workouts. This may include partnering with outside legal counsel, consultants, and financial advisors.
- Review workout proposals and loan approvals from team members for structure and adherence to company goals.
- Assist team members in negotiating terms with customers.
- Judiciously apply credit authority granted by bank.
- Review and prepare quarterly watch credit reports and engage with teams and Financial Recovery Directors in watch credit meetings.
- Ensure portfolio delinquencies and matured loans are at a minimum.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- 10 years of related commercial banking experience
- Understanding of all Commercial Loan disciplines including ABL, Leverage Lending, cash flow lending and collateral based lending.
- Experience working within a syndicated credit agreement framework.
- Understanding of Treasury Management products and services
- Understanding of Capital Market products and services
- Must be able to clearly articulate the Bank's position and objectives in loan restructuring using strong negotiation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail, exceptional analytical skills and sound judgement
- Significant accounting and finance knowledge with emphasis on financial statement composition and inter-relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain composure and demonstrate confidence in presenting to clients, senior management, as well as regulators and auditors
- Ability to multi-task and operate in a fast-paced environment working closely with various departments throughout the Bank using good collaboration skills in a team-oriented environment.
- Master's degree in business, Finance, or Accounting
- 5+ years of direct commercial lease and loan workouts/special assets experience
- 15+ years of combined banking/consulting experience
- Supervisory experience
- IT system skills/capabilities with previous knowledge of Outlook, Excel and Word, and previous experience with AFS / ACBS / Stucky / CLOS / RETS / CARS / CRRS.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail and be comfortable working with data to identify emerging trends and issues.
- Previous experience in management of direct reports
- Experience underwriting commercial loans and/or structuring commercial loans.
- Adhere to both Huntington and FRG Policy and Procedures.
- Maintain compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Working knowledge of US Bankruptcy laws.
- Ability to negotiate settlements, workouts and sale of collateral while adhering to state and federal regulations.
- Experience with Real Estate Foreclosure process.
- Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects and reporting requests.
- Have experience working within a syndicated credit agreement framework.
- Experience managing as agent a large, complicated loan structure.
- Working knowledge of capital market products.
