Who are we? An Introduction

GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,292 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 40 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all of the electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, extending from Homer to Fairbanks. As the Land Management Supervisor at Golden Valley Electric Association, you will play a crucial role in managing the Land Management section, ensuring the successful negotiation and acquisition of robust land rights necessary for corporate projects and the extension of transmission and distribution facilities. Your leadership will directly influence the Land Management staff, guiding them in their efforts to secure land rights that support new line extensions and serve our growing membership. Additionally, you will be responsible for investigating, mitigating, and resolving any complaints related to GVEA and contractor activities within our rights-of-way, ensuring that our operations align with our commitment to innovation, safety, and fiscal responsibility. What you need to be successful

To excel as the Land Management Supervisor at Golden Valley Electric Association, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field with five years of relevant experience, or an Associate degree complemented by ten years in the field. A valid Alaska Driver's license is required, along with registration as a Professional Land Surveyor or a Professional Civil Engineer in Alaska. A minimum of eight years in the right-of-way or a similar profession is essential, along with demonstrated supervisory and project management experience. Your ability to lead teams and manage projects effectively will be vital in securing land rights and resolving any issues, making you an invaluable asset in supporting our mission-focused objectives.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in related field with five years' relevant experience

or
    • Associate degree in related field with ten years' relevant experience.
  • Valid Alaska Driver's license.
  • Registration as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Alaska or registered as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of Alaska.
  • Senior Right-of-Way Agent Designation (SR/WA) from the International Right-of-Way Association or the ability to acquire within two years.
  • Eight years' experience in the right-of-way or similar profession.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
