About the Role:

We are currently seeking a talented Managing Director to join the Consumer and Community Banking (CCB) Strategy team to lead CCB Card & Connected Commerce Strategy.

CCB Strategy collaborates with senior executives and cross-functional business partners to shape the strategic direction of the business, driving better decision making through business intuition rooted in data. Core focus areas including: (1) Partnering to define the near-term and long-term strategy for CCB and individual LOB/functional initiatives, (2) Serving as strategic advisors embedded within leadership teams, (3) Proactively evaluating our strategy per competitive, consumer, macroeconomic, and regulatory developments, (4) Red teaming to prioritize initiatives, funding, and resources effectively, (5) Catalyzing execution by reducing ambiguity and converging related efforts and (6) Communicating our strategy to Investors, the Operating Committee, and the Board of Directors.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of the industry and have a keen interest in utilizing analytics and data science to drive innovation and enhance the customer experience. Additionally, the successful candidate will show an ability to not only develop a high-level strategy but also help mobilize the organization toward strategic execution.

Responsibilities
  • Direct strategic thinking and approach for Card & Connected Commerce, identifying critical aspects of challenges and structuring engagements effectively.
  • Lead growth strategies through robust analytics and recommendations, collaborating with the Data & Analytics team to drive innovation and enhance customer experience.
  • Provide strategic market and competitor analysis to inform decision-making and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Influence the strategic agenda by serving as an objective thought partner to the C-suite and senior leaders, extending beyond immediate engagements.
  • Generate innovative ideas and stay abreast of market trends to position Card & Connected Commerce at the forefront of the industry.
  • Manage project portfolio, priorities, and demand; assemble teams with the right mix of skills and experience for each strategic initiative.
  • Build a diverse, inclusive, and high-performing team, leading recruiting, staffing, and performance management to attract and develop top talent.
  • Communicate effectively with strong written and oral skills, crafting compelling narratives and influencing senior executives to drive strategic execution.

Experience:
  • Over 15 years of leadership experience in a global organization, preferably with a background in consulting and corporate environments, focusing on financial services, card products, and connected commerce strategies.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with exceptional analytical abilities to structure and scope complex challenges, synthesize insights, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Advanced client management skills, with the ability to partner closely with senior leaders and stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives.
  • Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to frame projects, establish governance, and engage appropriate resources, including internal teams and external consultants.
  • Exceptional written and oral executive-level communication skills, capable of crafting compelling narratives and influencing senior executives to drive strategic execution.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit with a track record of initiating change and driving innovation in complex businesses.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence across complex, matrix organizations, fostering collaboration and building confidence with peers, while managing change, projects, and people.
  • Innovative, strategic thinker with a deep understanding of business and market dynamics in card and connected commerce, capable of articulating vision to motivate and influence others at all levels.

We're proud to lead the U.S. in credit card sales and deposit growth and have the most-used digital solutions - all while ranking first in customer satisfaction.

The Strategy team manages mission-critical projects ranging from developing growth strategies, to assessing and planning entry into new markets, to implementing organizational restructurings and operational efficiencies, and more. Projects are typically team-based and include close collaboration with senior executives.
