The Chemical Specialist will be responsible for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of chemical application through the creation and implementation of an area-wide chemical program. The role will work closely with engineering and operations personnel as well as various chemical companies and consultants.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify and track program KPI's for both economics and performance.
- Proactively review chemical usage, pump variance and tank inventory; identify and report issues (with recommendations) to the operations team.
- Proactively analyze laboratory results, chemical usage data, operational and engineering strategy, and failures to determine program performance; identify and report issues (with recommendations) to the operations team.
- Identify program optimization opportunities through field and laboratory testing, product application and engineering, data analytics, automation, and chemical formulation.
- Routinely perform normalized cost economics to validate program allocation and treatment strategy.
- Work with chemical vendors to craft technical recommendations for chemical program modification.
- Review and recommend new technologies (chemical, mechanical and process) which could provide benefit to the chemical program.
- Manage chemical vendor program reviews, including scheduling and task management.
- Participate in root cause failure analysis meetings and route reviews with operations team; accumulate required chemical data for discussion and make data-driven recommendations.
- Provide routine evaluation of chemical service and HSE metrics to chemical program stakeholders.
- Identify training needs of organizational counterparts (field operations and engineering teams); work with each team to identify necessary content and schedule accordingly.

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma (or GED).
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the industry within a similar role.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable MVR.
- An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Chemistry from an accredited college or university.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, SAP and Spotfire software.
- Knowledge of surface equipment standards and sizing (ANSI/Nace).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stoop, stand, walk, pull, carry instruments, and climb stairs and ladders for an extended period of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Ability to work overhead for extended periods of time.
- Ability to perform fine manipulations with hands and fingers.
- Capable of driving distances of 150 miles or more per day during all types of weather conditions.
- Ability to one arm carry up to 25lbs. without assistance.
- Regular bending, crouching, pulling, and kneeling to check equipment and gauges.
- Must be able to exert up to 50lbs. of force occasionally and up to 20lbs. frequently to move or manipulate objects.
- Ability to work significant amounts of time as required in completing job responsibilities.
- Working environment includes exposure to extremely loud noises in the field, hazardous chemicals, and hydrocarbons that may be under extreme pressure for which appropriate safety measures are required.
