DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
Our LIVER CARE POST-TRANSPLANT NURSES are health care professionals responsible for the continuum of care experienced by the transplant patient at the University of Washington Medical Center. The role focuses on the duties related to the post-transplantation phase. Management for a designated transplant patient population includes independent patient assessment, triage, education, coordination of medical and nursing care, and documentation of care. Integral to the role is an understanding of the regulations and data requirements surrounding transplant care issued from the United Network of Organ Sharing and HRSA.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides expert programmatic specialty nursing care to post liver patients by maintaining:
Knowledge and care of liver donors pre- and post-donation.
A close working relationship with the UW Liver Transplant team
Ability to interpret data about the patient's health and donation in order to provide appropriate nursing care.
Ability to interpret data about the patient's status post-donation in order to identify each patient's age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
REQUIREMENTS
2 years of current acute care transplant nursing or ICU nursing experience in a variety of areas
Two years of professional nursing experience, including clinical nursing expertise in managing liver transplant patient care. Prefer skills in transplant coordination/United Network of Organ Sharing and BSN.
Active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State or MSL license
Active BLS Certification
