Job Title: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Home Health
Job Specialty: Home Health Therapy/Rehabilitation
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day Shift, 5x8-Hour (08:00 - 17:00)
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 2 years required
License: Indirect supervision license with PA or multi-state
Certifications: Associate's degree, BLS
Must-Have:
- Competence in all therapy-related skills and vital signs
- EPIC experience preferred
Job Description:
- Collaborate with Physical Therapists to carry out a program of exercise and treatment for assigned patients.
- Assist Physical Therapists during patient testing, evaluations, and complex procedures in compliance with APTA and PPTA regulations.
- Coordinate physical therapy activities with the interdisciplinary team to achieve established goals.
- Ensure compliance with regulations set by regulatory agencies and state governing bodies.
- Conduct or participate in training of medical and nursing personnel in physical therapy techniques and objectives.
- Utilize safe patient handling techniques for all patient transfers, lifts, and positioning.
- Maintain compliance with PA practice act related to communication with supervising Physical Therapist.
- Mentor fellow staff and students as defined by the clinical ladder.
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned, including orientation, competency training, and participation in peer/performance reviews and in-services.
- Assist leadership team in program development and performance improvement.
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles over the lifespan of assigned patients.
- Assess and interpret patient age-specific data and provide appropriate, age-specific treatment.
- Maintain patient records with accurate documentation to support medical necessity and functional ability.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures, ensuring quality management, safety, and infection control standards.
- Enhance professional growth and development through educational programs and workshops.
- Collaborate with other team members to foster a culture of patient-centeredness and clinical excellence.
- Act as a role model for compliance with a focus on hand hygiene and patient identifiers.
- Utilize SBAR as a standard method of communication in all aspects of patient care.
- Provide outstanding service to all customers, foster teamwork, and practice fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
- Perform other related duties as identified.
- Support and meet the values and standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethics, as well as safeguard patient and business/operational information.
Physical Demands:
- Standing, walking, sitting: Occasionally
- Carrying/lifting: Occasionally (26 to 50 lbs)
- Pushing/pulling: Occasionally (50 lbs)
- Kneeling/crouching, reaching: Occasionally
- Talking, hearing: Frequently
- Repetitive motions, eye/hand/foot coordination: Occasionally
Working Environment:
- Occupational hazards: Occasionally
- Bloodborne pathogen exposure: Potential
Additional Information:
- Ability to work in a tobacco and fragrance-free environment is required.
- Candidates must be willing to care for patients with COVID-19.
- Schedule includes a weekend (Saturday) rotation.
- Holidays may be required as needed.
- 7 days of time off maximum.
- Modules typically take 5-6 hours to complete and are done pre-start.
