The Office of the Chief Economist (OoCE) supports the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) in a corporate staff role. The Chief Economist develops and articulates a long-term perspective on global economic and market fundamentals that influence company performance. Through strategic ideation, the OoCE integrates Phillips 66 business units, ensuring alignment with executive vision in the context of both global markets and specific business realities.
As an Energy Economist, you will work closely with the Chief Economist to conduct fundamental analysis, using internal and external data, support various ELT functions and business initiatives, and deliver thought leadership. This role develops high-quality content and supports its delivery throughout the organization. The Energy Economist will be independent, self-motivated, and coordinate multiple work streams to meet demanding executive deadlines. This role focuses on integrating analysis, drawing strategic conclusions, and communicating findings across all levels of the organization. You will collaborate closely with the Commercial teams, Investor Relations team, Corporate Strategy, Business Unit Strategy, and the Value Chain Optimization team. This is a 3-year assignment within this business unit.

Responsibilities May Include:
- Annual Long-Range Plan: Develop, execute, and articulate throughout the organization the tier-one price deck and associated global macroeconomic/energy and regulatory assumptions, bases, and views
- Create and utilize economic models, statistical models, and technical models to analyze data
- Develop fundamental analysis on the markets and products which drive the company's business
- Interpret and forecast market trends and present research results
- Regularly communicate with external consultants and internal global frontline BU personnel to provide market alerts to ELT
- Prepare slides and speaking notes for various internal & external engagements (Earnings calls, Board meetings)
- Provide ad hoc support/ consulting to various BUs (market analysis, capital allocation decisions, competitor analysis, changing market conditions, etc.)
- Support Corporate Strategy function initiatives/ deep dives
- General executive support; Ad hoc analysis
- Attend internal and external conferences or workshops
Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Economics, or Finance
- 5 or more years of experience in the energy industry
- Ability to allocate responsibilities and coordinate multiple work streams to meet demanding deadlines
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Adaptable and flexible to fluctuating work hours
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of experience in market analytics
- Detail oriented
- Independently motivated
- Collaborates effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis
- Operational or Commercial experience
- Working Knowledge of Phillips 66 businesses and key value drivers
