Minimum Starting Salary: $83,292.00 starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience.

About the Program Planning Development and Renewal Dept. at Humber:

Program Planning, Development & Renewal (PPDR) is a centralized department with pan-institutional responsibilities. Working in partnership with the faculties , we lead program planning and development, renewal and review, and work on special projects. PPDR also administers Humber's Academic Quality Framework. The Quality Framework is a system of interrelated processes that, through a program lens, help maintain and enhance our ability to provide optimal learning opportunities for students.

About the Program Quality Consultant Role:

Reporting to the Associate Dean, Program Quality, the Program Quality Consultant (PQC) will work closely with an academic Faculty and other academic areas to create and sustain innovative, high-calibre programs. The Program Quality Consultant is responsible for coordinating, communicating, and project managing the development of new post-secondary programs at Humber. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for the preparation of concept papers, committee documentation, and proposals for internal and external committees relating to program development.

The incumbent is accountable for providing guidance to ensure the efficient and effective execution of new program development for Humber's academic Faculties. This includes being responsible for:
  • Consulting with program teams, Subject Matter Experts (SME), and other support division representatives in the completion of proposals for Humber's Internal committee structure, ensuring alignment with Humber's quality assurance framework/standards and policies.
  • Advising program teams on internal and external program development requirements.
  • Preparing documents for external program and Ministry funding approval submissions.
  • Supporting the development and alignment of learning outcomes at credential appropriate levels, including program mapping requirements.
  • Project management of new program development to ensure established timelines are met, including tracking of progress, follow-up with academic Faculty representatives, and reporting to Associate Dean, Program Quality and Operations Manager, Program Planning, Development and Renewal (PPDR).

The incumbent is also responsible for leading comprehensive program reviews and the renewal of existing programs on a cyclical basis to address continuously changing industry needs. On an as-needed basis, the Program Quality Consultant is responsible for the completion of program and curriculum changes.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge and experience working in post-secondary education, with experience in program development and learning outcomes writing. Familiarity with external services, including MCU and OCQAS, as well as Ministry guidelines, would be an asset.

Education

Master's degree required in Higher Education, Education, or equivalent.

Experience/Skills

Five (5) to nine (9) years of relevant post-secondary experience in academic planning and quality assurance processes, and systems including program development, program review, and accreditation. Experience with graduate-level program development is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge and experience working in post-secondary education, with experience in program development and learning outcomes writing.
  • Experience working in postsecondary quality assurance in compliance with Ministry requirements, including familiarity with the Credential Validation Service (CVS), Post-secondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB) and the Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU) within an Ontario Context.
  • Excellent knowledge of educational systems (preferably both the college and university sectors), standards and best practices, nationally and internationally, coupled with an ability to analyze complex information, identify problems, and make judgements to adapt ideas to the institutional QA mandate and culture.
  • Ability to promote excellent working relationships with academic and non-academic staff.
  • Advanced listening, verbal, and written communication skills, and an ability to negotiate with various people is essential to arrive at a consensus.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret data, metrics, and reports from a variety of databases, and translate complex information and processes for internal stakeholders.
  • C ollaborative leadership skills and the ability to motivate a project team to complete a project/goal/task.
  • Strong report writing skills, government reporting experience preferred.
  • Consensus-building skills; ability to promote excellent working relationships with both academic and non-academic staff and demonstrated ability in conflict resolution.
  • Ability to anticipate challenging situations and proactively seek guidance from their direct manager or PPDR leadership.
  • Ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize day-to-day tasks (including inquiries) with minimal oversight/intervention.
  • Use conflict resolution, negotiation, and mediation skills to move an individual/project team forward .
  • Excellent computer software skills (especially MS Office, and data analysis programs)
