The Executive Director, FP&A reports to the Vice President, FP&A and serves as an integral member of the Finance Leadership team. Position serves as a key advisor to the heads of R&D and Technical Operations/Global Supply Chain and contributes to the organization's development and achievement of strategic goals. In addition, the individual is charged with developing and implementing more sophisticated policies and processes both in the finance and general operational realms. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Planning/resource allocation and optimization
    • Act as key advisor to the heads of R&D and Global Supply Chain/Tech Ops functions to drive results that are aligned to corporate strategy and goals
    • Develop and implement forward-looking, financial analytics to provide insights into the organization's operations and business plans
    • Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the CFO & VP Finance informed of all critical issues
    • Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual budget/forecast process for consolidated R&D and Global Supply Chain/Tech Ops functions
    • Manage consolidation and reporting of quarterly financials
    • Coordinate cross-functionally with Commercial organization to ensure alignment on key product supply-related issues
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures
    • Participate/lead special projects
    • Other duties as assigned by manager


  • Team Development/Leadership
    • Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the R&D and Global Supply Chain/Tech Ops FP&A teams
    • Promote a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality
    • Mentor and develop staff including evolving mindsets to a more strategic and story-telling level
    • Lead by example and communicate cross-functionally


Qualifications include:
  • A minimum of a BS or similar designation; MBA preferred
  • At least 8 years' experience in key financial leadership roles, preferably in the pharmaceutical/biopharma industry
  • Experience directly supporting senior R&D executives
  • Significant experience in or knowledge of financial planning, accounting, cost accounting, R&D, and technical operations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills


Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic

Pay Range:

In the U.S., the hiring pay range for fully qualified candidates is $304,000 - $336,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
