Description
Under the general guidance of the Pension Administrator, the Pension Systems Coordinator is responsible for both technical and financial analysis, contributing to a wide range of financial reporting, vendor management, and maintaining pension administration software. This position plays a key role in assisting with the administration of the Police Pension Plan, performing detailed and confidential work in support of the objectives set by the Police Pension Board and the City of Coral Springs Police Pension Plans. Assignments are carried out with limited supervision, requiring sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to manage tasks independently.

Examples of Duties

  • Provides analytical and administrative assistance in the development and implementation of efficient procedures that are in compliance with plan documents, State, and Federal laws.
  • Completes special projects or assignments, conducts research and analysis, formulate and communicates recommendations.
  • Forecasts financial needs for pension plan administration budget, assists with annual COLA calculations, administers and confirms/evaluates eligibility for retirement benefits.
  • Analyzes monthly portfolio statements, including finalizing contracts.
  • Analyzes and processes disability applications.
  • Supports year-end internal audit, responds to audit requests and compilation of financial support for rating agencies as needed. Assist with State Annual Report.
  • Monitors annual operating budgets for the Pension Administration Office, as needed and contributes to budget baseline annually.
  • Coordinates the trustee election process.
  • Designs and develops workshops to enhance knowledge and skills within the pension system administration team.
  • Creates educational materials for internal stakeholders, focusing on pension plan processes, compliance, and system tools.
  • Manages and updates website content to ensure it is accurate, accessible, and aligns with pension plan policies.
  • Collaborates on website development efforts to enhance user experience and optimize navigation for pension plan members.
  • Maintains online resources and ensures they are up-to-date, relevant, and easily accessible to stakeholders.
  • Acts as a liaison for software implementation projects, ensuring smooth transitions and proper integration with pension system operations.
  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to strategically plan and execute software transitions, ensuring the system meets organizational needs and enhances efficiency.
  • Collaborates with the Pension Administrator to ensure the effective execution of pension plan administration tasks and goals.
  • Performs pension system and payroll data analysis to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for process improvement.

Typical Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting or related field. FPPTA certification required within three (3) years of hire. Minimum of three years of professional related experience, Florida Chapter 175/185 Retirement Plan administration preferred, knowledge of retirement plan administration including ERISA and non-ERISA plans, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Competent in the use of Excel, Micro-Soft Suite, and Adobe Pro.
