ABOUT THE POSITION:
Anchin is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented R&D Tax Credits Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead client engagements, identifying and maximizing research and development (R&D) tax incentives by analyzing business activities, preparing technical documentation, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify eligible R&D activities and assess qualifying expenditures for tax credit claims.
- Conduct technical interviews with clients to gather information on R&D projects.
- Proven knowledge of R&D tax incentives and/or experience with Orphan Drug, CHIPS, or Renewable Energy tax credits.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple, competing priorities.
- Demonstrates analytical and research skills, as well as effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven leadership skills demonstrating strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrates ability to collaborate and proactively develop internal and external working relationships.
- Analyze financial data, project records, and technical documents to substantiate claims.
- Prepare and review detailed R&D tax credit reports and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with IRS and state-specific tax regulations.
- Work closely with clients, tax advisors, and finance teams to optimize tax positions.
- Assist in defending R&D tax credit claims in audits or inquiries from tax authorities.
- Provide training and guidance to clients and team members on R&D tax credit eligibility and best practices.
- Manage multiple client engagements while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Ability to travel up to 15%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, engineering, science, technology.
- License: CPA, JD, or EA.
Experience:
- 6+ years of experience in R&D tax credit consulting.
- Advanced degree such as MST or LLM.
- Experience with tax technical research (e.g., CCH, Hein, Lexis, RIA, etc.).
- Experience with Federal or State and Local credits and incentives.
- Experience with sustainability technologies, environmental sciences, or the energy sector.
Compensation:
- Competitive annual salary in the range of $140,000 to $180,000, based on the individual's experience level.
