Position Overview:
The Vice President of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting is a key leadership role responsible for proactively managing all aspects of financial reporting, technical accounting, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations. This role ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial statements, manages complex accounting matters, and provides strategic guidance on financial policies and controls throughout the organization. The Vice President will collaborate with senior leadership and external stakeholders, including auditors and regulatory bodies, to maintain transparency and compliance. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader who is solutions-driven with experience leading financial reporting and technical accounting teams.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the financial reporting process, including preparation and review of SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Proxy, and other disclosures).
- Oversee the consolidation and preparation of financial statements, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Review transaction documents, research accounting guidance, and write/review technical accounting memos that analyze and interpret guidance to determine the proper accounting treatment for significant and/or unusual transactions.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate the audit process, ensure timely resolution of audit findings, and support an efficient audit.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements, assess their impact on the company, and lead necessary implementations.
- Partner with Corporate/Operational Accounting, Tax, and P&A teams to ensure financial alignment and integration across departments.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the Companys accounting policies.
- Lead and/or assist in the adoption and implementation of new business, accounting, and financial reporting processes.
- Lead or support potential M&A activities, including due diligence, purchase accounting, and integration efforts.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on accounting guidance, standards, and reporting requirements for the company.
- Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities.
- Assist in maintaining a robust control environment that is SOX compliant and drive improvements.
- Provide direction and guidance to the accounting and finance organization to ensure all activities are recorded and reported in compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Build and maintain cross-functional and collaborative relationships with colleagues across Accounting and Finance, Operational Departments, Legal, and others
- Work closely with the CFO and other senior leaders to support strategic initiatives and provide financial insights and analysis.
- Involvement in sustainability and climate change reporting.
- Provide support to Operational Departments for ad-hoc requests.
- Lead or support other special projects.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting; Active CPA license required
- Expert understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC rules and regulations, and SOX
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in financial reporting and technical accounting, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role within a public company or Big 4 accounting firm.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Highly driven and self-motivated, with strong leadership, presentation, and communication skills.
- Experience managing external auditors and regulatory relationships.
- Ability to coordinate projects from inception to completion, incorporating feedback from multiple sources and stakeholders.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize competing projects, and manage requests/assignments in a timely manner.
- Experience with Workiva and OneStream highly preferred; experience with SAP preferred; highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
