Basic Qualifications

Eight (8) years' experience in the following: operations / business analytics with demonstrated advanced ability and experience in data analysis, reporting, and utilizing metrics / KPIs to enable informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a technical discipline.
  • Experience in collaborative approaches in a matrix-managed environment, and across multiple and diverse groups; practical problem solving and strategic thinking skills; critical thinking and excellent analytical and organizational skills ensuring attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong ability to analyze business operations, interpret data, work with financial figures and key performance measures, partners with Business Analyst / Data Analyst when available to create reports and allow information to be visualized.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently. Must be flexible, self-motivated, possess excellent organizational and presentation skills; be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt; and be able to think and work well independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a team.
  • Must project a knowledgeable and professional image to customers and co-workers.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in communication, collaboration, and executive presence.
  • Must be an effective problem-solver with the ability to quickly understand complex business needs. Technology Skills Required:
  • Working knowledge of network-based systems preferred. Familiarity with handheld computing, equipment diagnostics, bar-coding, and related technologies desired.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and SharePoint applications.
  • The ability to learn and quickly become highly proficient with new systems and software is essential.
  • Experience working with operations transactional databases such as CRM, Asset Management, and ERP systems.

Position Description

Provides analytical and related business process support to FMO and E&U operating groups including:
  • Provides support for various business, financial, and operational activities across multiple functional areas.
  • Works with leadership and relevant stakeholders to assist in financial planning, projections, reporting, and analysis. Supports budgeting processes and reviews financial performance as needed.
  • Collaborates with teams to gather and analyze operational data, track key metrics, and support reporting efforts.
  • Assists in various administrative and process management tasks related to financial and operational systems.
  • Supports business processes, including data management, billing, procurement, and resource planning.
  • Helps maintain documentation and assists in process improvement initiatives as required.
  • Engage with internal and external partners to facilitate effective service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Maintains a professional and collaborative approach in all interactions.
  • Contributes to the organization's overall mission and goals by supporting various initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as data entry along with strong visual acuity required. Must be able to walk up and down stairs repeatedly and routinely walk between campus buildings and across campus areas.

Working Conditions

Work Format: This is a hybrid position, with a minimum of three (3) days per week worked on-campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Two (2) days per week may be able to be performed remotely, however business needs at the time will determine this. Work location is responsive and subject to change based on business needs.

Emergency Status Designation: Critical Operations Personnel (required to provide on-site support during emergency situations as determined by management).

Job Summary

FMO provides a broad portfolio of labor-based services, including primary building maintenance, landscape, fire safety, custodial, and event support services to a large portion of the University. All services are provided in strict accordance with regulatory requirements and customer-determined scopes, with cost recovery almost exclusively through a fee-for-service model. Although this position provides analytical and related business process support to the FMO organization, it will also support the Engineering & Utilities (E&U) operating departments.

Work Format Details

This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
