The Engineer position is an experienced engineering position that applies intermediate engineering and design principles to perform tasks using manual or computer-aided programs in support of Renewable project. Designs may include civil, electrical, or mechanical aspects of transmission design. This position will also require intermediate knowledge of transmission and distribution materials and how design packages are developed and checked. Works under the supervision of a higher-level Engineer or Group Lead. The primary focus of this position will be providing transmission line engineering services in support of renewable energy projects.

Annual Salary Range:
$123,000 - $142,000
The expected compensation is a range determined by factors including but not limited to education, experience, and qualifications of the candidate, internal equity, work location, and hiring department's fiscal resources.

The Engineer is responsible for:
- Collaborating with the Design Team to ensure assigned tasks are completed on time under aggressive project schedules.
- Applying intermediate engineering principles to produce accurate and precise calculations and design deliverables.
- Knowledgeable of transmission and distribution materials associated with basic and intermediate project designs.
- Ability to develop transmission line design standards or custom designs supporting renewable energy clients.
- Utilizing design software to create designs that are compliant with all codes and client standards.
- Performing material selection and takeoffs for basic and intermediate project designs.
- Reviewing and understanding project specifications, requirements, and standards.
- Coordinating with other team members to ensure design intent is transferred to the design drawings.
- Establishing, promoting, and assuring quality on all projects and work performed.
- Providing quality workmanship for all projects and work performed.
- Supporting a safety culture within group and demonstrates safe work practices into designs.
- May provide limited technical oversight on basic project tasks.
- Helping Engineering Associates as needed
The Engineer is accountable for:
- Performing engineering calculations for basic designs, intermediate designs, and transmission standards.
- Quality of work assignments.
- Meeting deadlines set by the Project Manager and/or Project Lead.
- Following up on construction issues in support of the engineering team to resolve problems and concerns in a timely manner.
- Performing work within the scope of a project - meeting timelines and cost projections and reports discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Checking or reviewing basic designs with a high attention to detail.
The Engineer has the authority to:
- Make engineering recommendations to higher-level Engineers for review.
- Support projects, when required, to ensure schedules, work scopes, and budgets meet the clients' and Mesa's expectations.
- Identify quality or technical performance issues.
- Provide suggestions to improve performance.
- Identify Safety related issues.
- Make recommendations on discrepancies found during the check and reviewing process.
- Create transmission line standards or custom designs in support of renewable energy projects.
The Engineer must have the following competencies:
- Ability to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems related to transmission systems.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations needed to support basic designs, intermediate designs, and transmission line standards.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in engineering and design work.
- Intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, and other drafting and design software needed to engineer transmission and distribution lines.
- Great interpersonal skills and aptitude for developing a working relationship with the entire design team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with others.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to develop, promote, and comply with Mesa Safety requirements.
- Ability to identify quality issues and comply with Mesa's quality requirements.
The Engineer will have the following qualifications:
- Four-year Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering required.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible transmission experience required.
- Experience with renewable energy projects is required.
- Professional Engineer license is required with the ability to obtain multi-state licensure.
The Engineer will have the following physical and mental demands:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Traveling, as required, to ensure all project requirements and deliverables are met.
The Engineer will have the following work environment and conditions:
- Normal office environment. Position may require extended hours with occasional local and out-of-town
- Work will be fast-paced with aggressive project schedules.
