Under the direction of the department manager, the role of the Hospital Unit Supervisor position is to provide immediate supervision of the Hospital Unit Service Coordinator 3s and other administrative, para-technical, and volunteer staff as assigned. This position is responsible for oversight and supervision of day-to-day operations and general administrative support.

Department Overview
The Firefighters Burn Institute Regional Burn Center at UC Davis Medical Center is a state of the art 12-bed intensive care unit specializing primarily in the care of burn injuries. The staff treats other complex tissue conditions and patients with multifarious wounds as well. Treatment in the unit generally begins during the emergent phase of the injury and continues up into the rehabilitation phase of the healing process. The unit serves the majority of the population in northern California and western Nevada. The partnership that initiated the Burn Unit between UC Davis Medical Center and the Firefighters Burn Institute is an active relationship maintained to this day.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR within 3 months of hire
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
- Supervisory experience, or a combination of similar leadership experience and/or training.
- Two (2) years experience working in a Burn or Trauma or similar setting.
- Demonstrated analytical experience .
- Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships .
- Experience conducting group and individual training sessions .
- Experience preparing reports, memorandums and documents .
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Skills to supervise an administrative and/or para-technical team and to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Supervisory skills related to recruitment, organizing, scheduling, and assigning work, training and evaluating work performance, implementing counseling, discipline and corrective actions.
- Strong knowledge of patient care support activities, systems, external regulations. and internal policies.
- Knowledge of Fair Labor Practices and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Ability to identify, analyze, report and resolve problems accurately and timely.
- Working knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources maters and employee performance.
- Detail oriented with the ability to apply analytical and critical thinking skills to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and apply effective solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants and outside agencies .

Work Environment
