As a key member reporting to the Manager, Engineering Systems at TNPI, you will play a pivotal role overseeing the operation, maintenance, and optimization of our SCADA, Leak Detection and Scheduling systems while leading a team of SCADA Engineers and Analysts, ensuring the effective functioning of our real-time monitoring and control infrastructure. Utilize your technical abilities and industry expertise to ensure acceptability, adequacy, and efficacy of SCADA and associated ICS systems' cyber security management systems.

As a key member reporting to the Manager, Engineering Systems at TNPI, you will play a pivotal role overseeing the operation, maintenance, and optimization of our SCADA, Leak Detection and Scheduling systems while leading a team of SCADA Engineers and Analysts, ensuring the effective functioning of our real-time monitoring and control infrastructure. Utilize your technical abilities and industry expertise to ensure acceptability, adequacy, and efficacy of SCADA and associated ICS systems' cyber security management systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop short and long-term upgrade plans, providing guidance and direction to the team, as well as ensuring that upgrades are executed in compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.
- Lead a team of SCADA Engineers and Analysts, fostering a culture of motivation and collaboration through effective guidance, mentorship, and support.
- Implement and manage work assignments through the Management of Change (MOC) process in accordance with Control Room Management requirements.
- Lead troubleshooting SCADA and Leak Detection issues, communication infrastructure and server hardware.
- Ensure technical assurance on all projects prior to their approval at decision gates as well as manage contractor/consultant performance stewardship.
- Drive internal and external audit, incident investigation and corrective action development, implementation, and sustainment.
- Lead the review, update and development of procedures, policies, and training materials to meet or exceed legislation and regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of SCADA configurations, procedures, and incidents, and generate regular reports to track system performance and KPIs.
- Implement a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy for SCADA systems to protect against cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
- Create measures to mitigate risks and safeguard critical infrastructure while managing access control policies and procedures ensuring that only authorized personnel can access critical components.
- Manage SCADA network infrastructures including networking, antivirus, remote controls and patching, and backup systems.
- Conduct training and awareness programs for SCADA system users and operators on cybersecurity best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must-haves (minimum requirements):
- 10 years of AVEVA OASyS SCADA (including PLM) experience.
- Post-secondary education in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Advanced programming skills for C#, VB, and SQL.
- Experience developing real-time applications with a high level of quality and dependability.
- Exceptional communication (verbal and written), analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated Leadership, including non-authoritative Leadership (NAL) and team building skills.
- Proven time management skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and work with a sustained effort to meet deadlines and address issues and work processes simultaneously.
- Ability to identify and implement "fit for purpose" solutions in a small company.

Preference for:
- A valid Professional Engineering designation.
- Leak detection experience in a liquids pipeline.
- Python scripting and C++ knowledge.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements related to liquids pipeline systems to ensure systems are compliant with all applicable regulations.
- Experience with DNP3 communication protocols, as well as the ability to comprehend and debug message content.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- Richmond Hill office, located at 310-45 Vogell Road, Calgary office, located at 109-5305 McCall Way N.E. or our Edmonton office in Sherwood Park, located at 2240 Broadmoor Boulevard.
- For individuals working from Alberta, this position will require travel (approximately 10%) to Ontario.
- The position title will be Engineer, Technologist, or Program Analyst, depending on qualifications-Engineer for those with a valid P.Eng., Technologist for those with a valid C.E.T., and Program Analyst for candidates with a background in Computer Science or a related discipline.
