Overview

The Lead Radiologic Technologist oversees technical procedures, patient care and work flow in Interventional Radiology (IR) in multiple modalities. Assists the IR physician with procedures performed within the invasive labs, CT, US, and bedside IR procedures, to ensure safe and effective patient care. Performs diagnostic and interventional procedures utilizing various imaging and interventional equipment within the invasive labs and assists with procedures performed in other modalities in which IR procedures are performed.

Responsibilities

Performs all essential functions of the Interventional Radiology Technologist.Serves as a technical resource and subject matter expert for staff, management, and physicians in respective area.Participates in scheduling of department's technical equipment service and/or maintence under the guidance of the Service Line Coordinator.Participates in developing training programs and is accountable for staff onboarding and training. Responsible for ensuring staff has completed new employee orientation and annual employee competencies.Aids in the annual review and periodic updates of department policies and protocols.May be required to stay past scheduled hours if IR procedures run late. shifts as assigned to meet department needs.Performs equipment checks to ensure all equipment is in working order and there is no damage.Aids in supply management to ensure needed supplies are on hand and available for procedures. Including checking expiration dates.Maintains updated physician preference list for procedures.Communicates and collaborates with physicians, managers, support personnel, and staff regarding technical issues to ensure reliability of results and quality assurance in imaging, hemodynamics and oximetry.Acts as Super User for invasive lab equipment and inventory. Organizes training on new equipment/inventory and maintains training needs of staff.Cross trains and performs as invasive technologist in Cath Lab, EP, and Cath Prep and Recovery as neededFunctions as scrub circulator and monitor technologist during procedures. Assists physician during interventional procedures with complex interventional devices. Processes digital imaging; titles and labels properly, acts as educator to ensure staff can demonstrate ability to view and transfer images. Works closely with Interventional Radiologist and IR Nurses to develop ideal work flows, add new procedures, coordinate education, acquire needed equipment, and coordinate patient care.

Qualifications

Certifications:

Registered in Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT);

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 3 months - American Heart Association (AHA);

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA);

Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA),

Education:

Certificate of Completion: Radiologic Technology; Associate's Degree: Related Field,

Work Experience: Interventional procedure; Rad Tech; Cardiac monitoring

Salary Range

The compensation range for this position is $34.19per hour - $58.81per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
